Alan said the following in the article:
"I love going to work in the morning. It doesn't matter what you do, if you like your job, you're going to do it well."
That is the only career advice I give to any student, except for those who want to go to grad school in econ (then I know they love the subject, so Alan's advice works) and for those who ask me if they should get an MBA right out of college-my answer is no-you'll usually get into a better MBA program if you have work experience, plus of course, you'll get an idea of what it is you like doing, and what was it that Alan said again? Oh yeah, "It doesn't matter what you do, if you like your job, you're going to do it well." He forgot to add, but I assume he knows, that if you do your job well, the good pay, the benefits, etc, will all follow-plus your friends and family will actually be happy to see you after you get out of work because you'll be happy as opposed to miserable.
