I don't think they need to make these guys wear business suits. They are not in church, court, or at a funeral...they are at a drag race. Tony was walking by the pit on a 85 degree hot day wearing a suit.

that I agree with, polo shirt would be nice with some khakis lol

The Sunday show seems to be getting better as they go along. Like every new venture, there are bugs to work out. I'm not real thrilled with the qualifying shows still. Seems like we don't get to see nearly as many runs as we used to. Just a quick recap of a few runs. Kinda sucks to hear Dave talk about a run that was just made the we didn't get to see. I would have liked to see all of Gary's runs Friday and Saturday as well as the other independents. Especially after the piece on Gary coming back after the Winters crash. Hopefully this will get better with time as well.

Don't watch it Craig. I don't think anyone in your household is twisting your arm. Go to DragRaceCentral and get your results. Pretty simple really.

Yep, that's what I do. Too much to do and too nice of weather to sit around watching TV for an afternoon.

That's why I won't sign up for the All Access package. The only chance of me sitting indoors all weekend between April to October is if the weather is rotten. That doesn't happen too often. So I can't see dropping $100 for 3-5 events per season. FS1 is more than satisfying the itch when (and if) I am indoors to watch the events.

Too much to do and so little time. Well said Gino !!

I think things have been improving on a show by show basis, and can only get better.

If there's one thing I'd mention, it's the one thing I was most worried about when they announced this new format, and that's all the tap dancing between the semis and the finals. I could just SEE a whole bunch of eyes glazing over about half way through, with fingers poised over the channel button. I'll even admit to hitting the FF button once myself for a couple of minutes.

Just curious Jim and Gino,
If you had a nasty weather weekend or cancelled plans and nothing to do, would you spend say, $20 to get it just for that weekend? I'm just thinking that right now there are 20 races left in the season, and $5 per race doesn't sound to me like a bad deal, even if you didn't watch them all.

Thanks,
Alan

P.S. I know of no plans to do individual races, just thinking with my typing fingers.

liking the new shows. like the baseball cards over drivers. tony is fine and getting better. he has a lot of knowledge and he doesn't seem to be adding that dimension to the commentary. mike seemed to do a better job at fleshing out things with his experiences and deep knowledge . obviously tony has as much experience . so lets hear about it. liking the tech segments as i want to know all i can about what makes cars tick. Jamie and Bruno are big assets. want to hear more from them

I get him still needing time to improve during the live stuff (I'm trying so hard to be nice and patient) but the pre-taped segments with Tony need to improve. You should have a couple of shots at getting those right, not good that they still look like that.

I liked the large graphics showing who was in each lane.

I almost feel like they just rush through the early rounds just to get to the live stuff but then it goes on dead time for 40 minutes until the finals.

I can't do all the dead time for the live shows. Live finals sure, but not semi's too. I've given up and just fast forward now.

Bruno and Jamie do a good job throughout the show but I would rather see Alan do the winner circle as his humor and rapport with the drivers would work well in that funner area.

Love, love, love having a good time slot that doesn't get bumped. Above all else that is the best and most important thing that Fox has done.

I'm interested in the all-access pass but not until I can pause, ff and watch as I can/want.

Right now (11pm Tuesday night) I can go to NHRA All Access and watch any or all of the three days of the Denso race (or any race prior to that). Do I sit in front of the TV/PC and watch it .... no, I have it streaming on the big screens in my shop while I work on stuff. Yes, last night I watched the NCAA finals, but almost any other night I'd choose to flip on a part of the race I haven't seen yet (or in some cases even have seen).

It would make me consider purchasing Alan ... more like a pay a per view would be an attractive option. Your logic makes sense when you break it down by race, I think its more like feeling like you are getting your $$ worth when you pay as you go. Might just be me.

With that said, If FS1 wasn't part of my cable package I wouldn't pay extra to upgrade for the same reasons. Could just be I am a "cheapskate" too :D:D

Came close to getting bumped this weekend. If Martinsville went longer, would have been interesting to see what FOX would have done. Move something to FS2 or the big network until NASCAR was over ????

It is getting better. Really liked the large graphics and the stage lines showing where the cars were in reference to each other. Just need to tighten up the dead time with more in depth stories on some subjects instead of rushing through fluff. I'd give Reiff an A-, Tony C+, Bruno an A, and Jamie a C-.

Thank you for asking Alan. Considering I live in So. Cal. and we very rarely get foul whether, not to mention I am a "Doer" I would say no. Though I confess that I watch first round of Top Fuel and Funny Car at Gainesville, to me it is like watching the same movie every weekend. The compelling story line is so diluted with the same handful of actors repeating the same script to the point of predictability.

Personally, I was born and raised at the dragstrip so I may be jaded. My earliest memories as a child is playing under a Mulberry Tree at San Fernando. Growing up it was weekend trips to Irwindale, OCIR or Ontario. The Winternationals were a big deal back then as it was exciting to see the new looks of cars, being able to walk in to racer's trailer and chat them up and of course seeing the newest products in the Manufactures' Midway. Not so much anymore. Haven't been in about 10 years and have no desire to return.

If the event before runs over a few minutes I'm fine with that. With ESPN it was just about a weekly deal and was often way more than just a couple of minutes. To me that showed some horrible program scheduling by whoever ran the show there. I expect. we'll have a delay at some point and that's fine. If they happen too often or for too long then there is an issue

FWIW... DR and TP are an announce team. I feel like Dave is either trying to "carry" the commentary, or not setting up his partner well to throw it over. Don't dislike Tony, still not a fan, but would like more depth to the commentary or just let the cars talk. Just my impression.
As far as filling the downtime before the final rounds, I see the problem as treating it like "downtime". It's not. There is a lot going on. This is a tournament. That time before the final is when you slowly build up the anticipation, observe strategies and preparations, explore possibilities and consequences. When I'm at the track, I'm never bored between rounds (well maybe during the Traxxis promos) there is no reason for the television audience to feel left out....
And Whit in the booth? Had not really thought about it, but would like to see it if current deal doesn't work out....
