I get the whole "same actors" every week deal, it's always great when things are mixed up with part-timers and up and coming teams. But this season has had some surprises and really good racing. Also, does anyone her watch F1? It's essentially the same 20 guys every week (although this year we Americans have the new Haas team to root for), and the same with NASCAR. And Indy Car. Same small group of racers fighting it out each week to chase a title.

One thing we have to remember is this is an NHRA production now. It was always TNN/Diamond P/ESPN doing the shows and NHRA providing just the racing. Now it's their show and they have to figure it out for themselves with probably the preface of "changing it up" to make it different than the ESPN stuff and trying to pick up ratings. I think the ESPN stuff was good, but the time schedule was what made it bad for the most part, and I think Dunn made up any deficit there ever was as far as content.

Yeah I had to rewind my DVR to make sure I saw what I thought I saw. I was all for giving TP the benefit of the doubt, but he needs to start improving soon.

To be fair, showing the same clip like that was an editing error, not on TP.

Those were 2 different thoughts (and sentences).
He didn't say it was TP's fault. Re-read the post.

Just curious, who would you suggest replacing him with? Marty Reid? Okay I actually liked the job he did. Paul Page? Definitely not!

How did the names Reid and Page come back to light? They're both gone..........for good.

Alan Reinhart, Bruno Massell would be great candidates.
They both know racing intimately and can speak technical, as Dunn did all those years.

DR would be OK as a pit reporter, getting those people-picture interviews. He's not good at all as the anchor. Dunn was THE show.

TP has trouble talking about anything but the newbie-fan basics.

Probably because it takes gazillions of dollars (whether sponsor money or private investments) to field a team, or even a single car, in any pro motorsport, dontcha think?
Yep, I'm sure that's why it's a revolving door of participants.

When watching F1 I catch the start, the first 5 laps then FF my DVR until the last 5 laps. Everything in between is usually routinely boring, showing position "battles" over and over and over.
Oh yeah, must not forget the babes shots in the stands and garages.

Thank goodness for DVR's!!

Well, the good news is 7 of the next 8 races are not LIVE events, which will allow for some editing, proper spacing of the races, and should allow them to refine the total product before the summer races on network.

sorta pre-prime-time roughly 4pm to 7pm EDT or 4:30pm to 7:30pm EDT

when does NASCAR roll off of Fox? .... found it, rolls to NBC in July (so that will stunt the boost from NASCAR of NHRA telecasts, and Supercross ends pretty soon) show needs to be running pretty smooth to carry its own from there on out.

Based on the great job the team did with graphics for 4-Wide today, a regular race should be a walk in the park!

Not bad today, tho would have been nice to see the stage lights of every driver, instead of looking at the christmas tree and trying to figure it out,but yea not to bad, cant wait till next week, should be good with no downtime I hope!!

UGH. No matter how hard Leigh Diffey, David Hobbs and Steve Matchett keep shouting America every time there is a Haas on the screen, they are decidedly NOT an American team. The car is a Ferrari. It's ongoing development is carried out by Dallara and Ferrari. Their race shop is the old Marussia shop in England. The team is run by Gunther Steiner, an Italian. The drivers are French and Mexican. The ONLY thing American about that team is Gene Haas' checkbook.

Now, if they move back to Kannapolis and build a bespoke chassis and do their own development, then I am 100% on board for the flag waving. As it stands now, it is barely above a customer car situation as allowed by the rules.

(With all of that being said, I am glad there is another team in F1, I just wish people would call it like it is, and if you want to root for Haas, fine. Just don't do it out of some national obligation that does not exist in reality.)

As for the intent of the thread ... The 4 Wides broadcast today was much better in my opinion. They are improving.
