Brian,

i applaude your optimistic comments - it is too easy to rest on your laurels and not push forward
whether or not in the light of a competitors stumble. IMO rite now nhra is in a good position for growth
back to where they were in the 90's and to do this i think they need to focus on ticket promotions the
next two years; i do not see TV ratings growth without new interest and I don't see how new interest can
be developed without new blood attending nat. events.
the 16oz. mello yello can with the $8 off gen. admission was a good start this season.
the pro nitro teams doing away with throttle wacks during warmups was not a good start this season.
there are many things that can attract and/or detract a potential or repeat customer

Never saw that in this area around New England Nationals time. In fact, here in Connecticut, I've never seen a Powerade Bottle, a Full Throttle can, or a Mello Yello product with as much as an NHRA logo on them - ever. Having sponsor activation in the direct area of an event is fine, but wouldn't you think a vast majority of fans near those places already know there's an event coming? There needs to be a greater effort into getting people within a days drive to come out to the races. I know there's distributor dynamics involved, but as I stated the other day, Coca-Cola's end of the bargain has left much to be desired.

On Thursday at Indy, some of the people in our campsite needed tickets so I mentioned the Mello Yello can deal, so we went looking for the cans. Walgreens, nope. Meijer, nope. CVS, nope. Several convenient stores called Speedway, nope. Even Clermont liquors 2 blocks from the front gate of LORP, nope. Full price was paid for the GA tickets ...

I have tried to get Mello Yello for my cooler at the races. It's hard to find. the Mello Yello Zero is not to be found anywhere. I often see special sale pyramids of Coca Cola products in various sizes and packages near high traffic locations in stores. I have yet to see Mello Yello in those displays.
How can NHRA involvement move the needle if we can't find the needle?

NHRA should start by investigating Vance & Hines' Andrew Hines for diving. We all know they've got data-loggers on the bikes so it should be pretty simple and quick to see why Hines bike mysteriously slowed so Eddie Krawiec could go around him for the win.

what happens to Andrew when he slows on track is WAY different when a Nascar driver intentionally spins his car on a track with 43 other competitors...

New NHRA ad slogan:

"NHRA....where never the racer and jet dryer shall meet!"
:D

Not really. Both are intentional moves to change the outcome of a race to help a teammate.
