There was a team with a ready to run A/FC on display on the midway in Seattle this weekend. They said they were displaying it for NHRA. Speaking with them was interesting. They said that one of the big cost savers in running injected nitro is the blowers. They claimed that a top TAFC needs 3 blowers to keep in rotation, at 25 grand each. As well, we spoke with Jackie Fricke and she said that parts attrition is much less on nitro because they only rev to 6800 rpm, compared to the 10,000 rpm that blown alcohol runs. Interesting stuff. Hopefully this move by NHRA will increase participation. Seattle only had 6 cars in TAFC this weekend, where in years past they usually had full, or almost full, fields in TAFC.
