maybe I'm an ol' fart... but I really believe in K.I.S.S. New and Improved really means rehashed and overdone, and less for more money...

but then, I don't buy on-line, and the more you try to "sell" me, the less likely I am to buy your product...

I like the way ya think there kid! It'd not surprise me though if they made the new site a PPV thing, ya know, Pay Per View. It'd never fly but they'd not surprise me if they tried.

If you want to know what the site will look like, look at the New York Giants (The Official Site of the New York Giants - Giants.com) or the Big Ten Conference (Big Ten Conference Official Athletic Site) or any other the other examples. They all look alike...

So it's going to look like a cluttered piece of junk?

I'm an educated Graphic Designer and I think both of those sites look like crap. They both look like "hey! How much stuff can we cram on the main page?!" too bad that most sports web sites are going this route.

I never liked there current page either. I thought the best page they had was their old one. All of the navigation was simple and well placed, even on the current page I have to go on safari to find what I’m looking for from time to time. I’m not an old timer either. I’m in my 20’s still (barely) and have built websites myself!

…and I’m off my soap box. :D

My pet peeve about the current site is that the top of the page changes all the time. There is no consistency, no "common theme", no consistent navigation (e.g. a reliable way to get "home"), etc. It drives me nutso. At least all of American Eagle's sites share that...

The other thing I'd like to see is a mobile compatible site. Out and about and I'd like to see the results -- you have to navigate a hundred or more links to get to the results page... on your phone. Ugh...

hopefully they can do ladders

and update points stats faster than 4 days to a week. I'm getting tired of having to do the math the Monday after an event. there is really no excuse for that if its database driven.

What happened to that big PR firm they hired awhile back...hmmmm

What happened to the video highlights since Indy....hmmmm

What happened to common sense...hmmmm

nevermind...silly questions...

(I say have Shannon do it!) :D

I hope their new website isn't too bloated so that it takes 10 minutes to load for us poor folk stuck with dial-up. (Damn Verizon....) More and more sites are made with no thought as to how long it takes to load. Of course the ads usually load right away.

The new site is going to be 320' shorter than the old one. And you'll have to play the fantasy game to get onto the site. If you don't make the top ten after Indy, you can't view the website. :D

Seriously though, I don't think they could make it any worse than NASCAR.com.

Now THAT'S funny, Andy!!!! PJ, did you catch this one? It's a gem!

That right there is hilarious

I wonder if my IP will be banned from the site lol

I'm willing to wait and see how it looks. They could do some good with it. Maybe an archive video vault, a better touch and feel to it.

As far as the fantasy game, with csk leaving will there be one next year? CSL has run this for many years on their own site before it bacame the official nhra one.

Not to mention you won't find anything in the places where you are used to looking.

We all know the truth of why this is being done. Glendora let it slip partway through the story (just like Barrack let it slip that he wants to 're-distribute the wealth').

AmericanEagle.com... will work alongside the current sales & marketing team at NHRA, led by Darcy, to jointly conceptualize strategies to monetize the site.

It's ALWAYS about the Benjamins when it comes the NHRA.

Don't count on it Brett. I can't think of any major sports or media site that has gone "simple" instead of more "flash and glamour" (read: bandwidth intensive).

Personally I think most web designers are full of themselves. They're more into showing off than designing practical, user friendly websites. It's like, "gee, let's see how many flash objects and animations I can cram into this page." "Ain't I awesome?" Meanwhile half the computers visiting the site are freezing up. Also, there are people still using phone dialup modems, especially in rural areas.

At work we have a quad core Mac Pro with 3 gigs of memory, and a broadband connection, and those kind of websites STILL bug me. I guess "keep it simple stupid" isn't very popular among web designers.
