New TV Voice of the NHRA

I had a chance to watch some of the live feed espn3 stuff on Friday of Brainerd...man that was some good stuff...I wish all broadcasts were like that.

I agree....and I think she posts on this board! I am sorry if I cannot recall her name, but she has done IHRA programming and did excellent work in the pits, she has a great voice, and she knows this sport inside and out as well, and has quite the personality. Dang it.....With respect to her, I apologize for forgetting her name, but all I can remember at this moment is she's the racer in "Married with Dragsters"

Aw...thanks! :D The IHRA stuff was [wow] a long time ago and only for one season. I sure did enjoy the opportunity to do that and miss those "days" of IHRA. A big thanks to Bill Bader for giving me my first shot on TV.

Currently can be seen on the "Lokar Car Show Series" that airs Sunday mornings @ 11a on Fox Sports Net through end of September. I'm very excited about a brand new series that will start airing 4th Q on same network Sundays @ 11:30a [repeat Monday 4:30p] --- "Performance TV". It's a show that I will be co-hosting with Tommy Johnson, Jr...and we start shooting next Saturday! It's going to be awesome!!

And hey Jeff [White]....those two D3 races must have been Stanton and Columbus. We just didn't run those this year. Really sorry we missed you guys!

What about Julie Atchinson. I remember her from the SPPED IHRA Broadcasts with Ken Stout & Brian Olson. Maybe Olson should get a gig with NHRA.

Also suggestive of James Krassowski from Maple Grove

NHRA would be fortunate to bring Marty back - he was very good previously
and IMO would pick up rite where he left off.

Funny how almost nobody liked Paul Page and wanted him gone. Now that he is everyone is unhappy with the result. I guess the old axiom "be careful what you ask for or you might just get it" turned out to very true.

Paul had a few rough spots when he first started but got much better and turned out to be very good. Paul your already missed.

I think my first choice would be Dave Reiff, but if the choice is between Paul and Marty I'd pick Marty every time...

maybe I can go back to watching the show again instead of fast forwarding my way through the show in about 30 minutes

Speed Tv destroyed Formula One's best team.....Matchett and Hobbs are going to NBC to continue F1 telecasts, but the best announcer on TV - Bob Varsha, is stuck in his contract at Speed (doing Barrett Jackson auctions.......:( )

Hopefully they could let him call the NHRA races with Dunn, just like Mike Joy gets to do NASCAR and the auctions.....

Man, that would be a cool deal if Varsha could pick up the mic. I consider him one of the best motorsports announcers in the industry.

The difference is Mike Joy does NASCAR on Fox, and SPEED is owned by Fox, so it is the same company. ESPN is owned by ABC, so I doubt Varsha contractually could do NHRA on a network for a different company. If he could, he would have definitely went to NBC to do F1, as that is his true passion.

It is funny to me that Mike Joy and Bob Varsha are mentioned together. There was a time back in the old Speedvision days when Mike Joy did the F1 broadcasts, then Fox got the NASCAR contract and Mike Joy went there opening the seat for Varsha for F1.

Elmer Fudd was the worst drag racing play by play guy ever to me. I honest to god, muted the tv broadcast on multiple occaisions. I will gladly take Marty back. Aslong as they dont put Shirley in the booth, I dont care who they put in it.
