New TV Voice of the NHRA

I was already comfortable with Paul ! His mistakes have all but gone away !
I would like to see Alan or John Kernan take his place !
They need to keep getting some female talent for the top end interviews anyway !
So many women involved in the sport and winning they need representation in the Media too.
The Women seem to have found Motor sports to be the medium they can compete toe to toe with men in .
The brass need to continue to push that aspect ! Shirley is a great example of pushing the girl , guy thing !
It's not a secret that any sport pitting women and men against each other equally is winner !

Marty Reid wouldn't have been my first choice either...but at least when he was doing the NHRA TV I didn't find my self reaching for the mute button like I do with Paul Page in the booth, and eventually getting to the point of not bothering to tune in at all... :-/

I really liked Reiff and Dunn doing the Pro Mod shows and wouldn't mind seeing that duo on a regular basis...(and doesn't "Reiff and Dunn" sound like a name on the side of a Willy's Gasser? ;) )

Who else could replace Page besides Reid, I don't know who else on the ESPN front could. I would rather have Rieff graduate full speed with Bill Stephens taking his spot as reporter.

Remember.... no matter how much they may want it.... There are many people who just don't have a 'Nitro Gene'... including the person that came up with that silly marketing idea...

Just because you can do play by play in baseball, does not mean you can catch all that happens in four seconds on a 1000 foot track.... after 44 years, I still can't...

I miss the Pro Mod show period. lol

For those they may not remember Dave Reif filled in for Paul Page at last years US Nationals when Paul was ill. I thought Dave did a great job on very short notice. I also enjoy him and Bob Frey on the sportsman shows.

I wouldn't get your hopes up just yet of Paul leaving. There is no Confirmation to this story that I could get from ESPN.

I couldn't take Bob Frey in there very long, too many corny jokes....

oh come on....the guy knows Drag Racing, he knows the dynamics, he knows the engineering, he knows the teams, he knows people involved with the teams, and he says some funny things....I still use his "there's three types of people in the world, those that do math in public, and those that don't"

I agree....and I think she posts on this board! I am sorry if I cannot recall her name, but she has done IHRA programming and did excellent work in the pits, she has a great voice, and she knows this sport inside and out as well, and has quite the personality. Dang it.....With respect to her, I apologize for forgetting her name, but all I can remember at this moment is she's the racer in "Married with Dragsters"

this is too fun, put the wet blanket away.

PS....to those that keep saying play-by-play....it's 2012....HDTV...not radio....there's nothing someone can describe that I can't see....the constant drone of someone's voice may be hardwired into television, but it's time to rethink it. I understand producers seethe when there's dead air, but folks, it's Drag Racing....the cars are the stars! Let the cackle come through more often rather then telling me that racer "B" is now staged....hell, I can see racer "B" staged...and if they feel the need to educate newcomers every episode, how about directing them to a "basics" web site...a Drag Racing 101....then we won't have to hear why they do a burnout every lovin' episode.

After Marty commented that Cory Mac was gonna have a "two veiner" after getting beat by Scott Weiss however many years back, he will always be my pic.

Then Kepner, Rieff, and Stephens.

Move Mike Dunn over to the MC job and get Shirley and Snake to do color. Let's put Reinhart in as the top end reporter. If that happened, I would just cover the TV and listen to the audio.

Kathy Fisher is the name you were looking for, I don't know what she's been up to lately. We ran two divisionals in their area in late July and I'm pretty certain they (her and hubby, Kevin) were at neither race.

Alan would be great too, but I don't think he's going to change careers and risk not being able to go back if ESPN changes it's mind.

I enjoy Bob Frey. I don't hear him 24 races a year, but I don't think his act is designed for racers that are at every race.

Great Way To Get Me To Never Watch A Televised Race Again... Snake, I can deal with... New York Mouth? I'll never watch a race again....

Agreed. :rolleyes:Bob Frey's act wears thin real fast for me as well

Count me in that that group as well.

He did do shows many years back and was waaaay to thick on the corny jokes and beating a joke into the ground (hey maybe he is a message board guy aferall :) )

Watching the sportsman shows he has toned it down for tv alot. No doubt he is one of the most historically smart people out there. Still he would not be my first choice.

Autolite Sportsman Challenge and the "Bob Frey Drag Racing Trivia Quizzes" where Alan gets incorrect every time. Much different when everything was Post Produced for Diamond P.
