New Driver/Owner Combo in TF

I'm interested in what sponsor he is bringing, if he is it all. Although Larry is one of a handful of drivers that could get a seat just on merit, not money.

in drag racing Merit doesnt count for Sh#&T. This is the only major sport i can think of where Affluence and nepotism decides the majority of the starting lineup.

Many forget Larry is an accomplished tuner as well as a driver. I worked with Donnie Bender for years on our Nitro Software and Larry was always discussing tune-ups with him. He worked his way through the entire crew positions.

I think they brought him along to help with the setup, something they need to refine in order to be competitive.

Hope Hillary gets a ride somewhere else but adding Larry will help more than just adding another driver.

I hate seeing Drivers buy a seat out from under someone else.

My monday sucked enough as it was, seeing Hillary get bumped makes it worse

How do you know Dixon is buying the seat? Do you have some inside information that you would like to share with the rest of us? If you're (I guess on the Mater I should say 'your') going to accuse Dixon of something, at least back it up with some FACTS.

B-I-N-G-O!

Dote Racing was already performing better, goin' rounds, and now Hillary gets the boot....

I think the pro ranks is one of the most lopsided games of musical chairs anywhere.....so many licensed and ready to race shoes out there, and a paltry amount of chairs to sit in when the music stops. Always going to be someone going without.

Man, some of you cheerleaders won't be happy until there is a two seater car in Top Fuel that can take both of your favorites down the track without you feeling sorry for somebody else..
If someone comes in, usually someone goes..

I guess this might partially explain her status update on FB yesterday.
not sure i could have imagined a stranger day when i woke up this morning. on another note, I appreciate all the well wishes for our engagement. i am thankful to have Matt in my life :-)

Yeah, but then only one could actually be the driver; the other would have to be a navigator, and it wouldn't be fair for one to be the navigator and not the driver.

No I would not like to share the info, but thanks for asking.

so people can't be bummed when their driver loses their seat?

isnt she married to Matt Hines ?? ... Put her on a third Harley. Its not Top Fuel, but at least she'll start winning some races ;)

I think they're engaged but she is a tiny little thing. Perfect for PSM. Every time I walk through the PSM pits and see the riders out at the ropes I feel like a giant. I'm only 6 ft. tall.

Sounds to me like it was the Dote's decision to offer Larry the seat.

"I'm really happy the Dotes offered me this chance to drive their car," Dixon said. *snip* We've gone rounds at the last two races and with the car's increasing performance I'm interested to hear what kind of feedback Larry can give us," Kuch said. "We are all looking forward to having him behind the wheel as we return to Charlotte."

Is it me, or did this quote seem a little backhanded?

"We are thrilled to partner with a driver of Larry's caliber for the remainder of our scheduled races," said Connie Dote, co-owner of Dote Racing. "Larry is one of the best drivers of all time, and we couldn't be more excited to combine his talents with our car's improving performance."

Larry's a great driver. I'm just sad to see Hillary lose a ride.

Someone, I can't remember who, told me several weeks ago that they thought the Dote's had about enough of Hillary. Maybe they did and called LD. I'm just speculating tho.

If someone knows different, like LD took the ride from Hillary or bought it, please do tell.

Well, lets hope he's learned his lesson not to rubbish his crew, like he did on another team.

Something about this deal stinks! But if you wore rose colored glasses - you'd be loving it.
What does rubbish mean??? And when you speak of crew, does Jason McCulloch know about this???

Yeah, but then only one could actually be the driver; the other would have to be a navigator, and it wouldn't be fair for one to be the navigator and not the driver.
Someone has to keep it in the groove..............

Accomplished tuner? Haven't heard that one before.

Nothing in life is forever. Could anything be a better example than trying to drag race for a living? Remember when nobody could understand how Larry was let go and didn't have a ride this year? One of the winningest drivers ever? I have no idea what happened at Dote Racing, but this kind of stuff will always be going on. There's always going to be WAY more drivers than rides. At least Hillary got some seat time this year, including at Indy. She did better than most, including me, I'm still looking for funding...:D

'rally drags'.....the navigator would say something to driver
like....."ok, it's really straight for about a half mile, you want to floor it
for about a 1/4 mile, then brake like hell and don't hit the net :D

I guess it makes sense to me.

Dote racing gets Larry Dixon to drive thier car. That's pretty big! I would think that could open up some doors for that team. Also, Dixon would not get in a "leaker" just to get a chance to run, I bet that makes them proud to know that.

On the other hand, Dixon is shopping for a sponsor, and what a better way then to bring people out to the races, and get up close and personal with him and his fan following at the track, in a car that should qualify. IMO there is no better way. Beats sitting up in the tower and trying to explain it from there??

Good questions Lance. Too bad some people with the initials of M.V. ( I wont mention any names) like to stir $hit up and then run for cover with a lame ass excuse of, " I can't reveal my sources" etc, etc.

These questions really need not be addressed anyway, since the original statement has zero merit.

Easier to get sponsor money WHEN you have a complete team that is up and running. Starting from scratch takes more money and more time and a lot more unproven.
