BURGESS SCORES PERSONAL BEST TO CLAIM PROVISIONAL SIXTH IN ATLANTA

COMMERCE, Ga. – Nothing says success better than driving your way to a personal best in front of your hometown crowd.

Gotham City Racing’s Roger Burgess piloted his classic Pro Modified Corvette to 6.048 elapsed time at 228.48 miles per hour to secure the accolade.

Burgess heads into the final session of qualifying on Saturday as the sixth quickest runner in the Jegs Pro Modified division at the NHRA Southern Nationals in Commerce, Ga.

“There’s a little more out there,” Burgess admitted. “The tuners did their jobs; the driver had a little error. We’re going to work on that to improve tomorrow.”

The first run for Burgess was as smooth as a volatile Pro Modified can be.

“The car drove like a Cadillac,” Burgess said.

As for the second run, he likened the experience to his admittedly questionable golf game.

Burgess lifted on the second run just shy of the 660-foot mark.

“Actually, I think I had a slice and a hook, and another hook,” Burgess joked.
