What is the current situation surrounding national record procedures ? I believe no points are awarded ? Are there any rewards for setting one ? Is there a backup run required ?

I'm assuming these are the current records :

It seems to me that back in the day setting a national record was a big deal but not any more.

They did away with backup runs and rewards many years ago. It’s all just bragging rights now.

Huh, they have the date wrong for Shawn Langdon in Martin Mi, should be 8-31-26.

It was always cool to check national records in ND.

Agreed! My dad set the A/A record way back in 1970, and it was a huge deal. Why aren't they in ND any longer, and are they listed anywhere?

[Mike]

Nunzio, I remember that was a big deal in ND and drag news

[mick]

class indexes and nat. records are listed on nhraracer.com under 'tech', as well as comp CIC adjustments.

If you're referring to Shawn's 346.95 pass in E3 at Martin, that happened 9/20/26.

so what are the r/t and speed records for tf and funnycar, my guess for tf r/t is around 3.62?

[DDB]

If I recall I believe the NHRA yearly rule book had them listed for each class in the back also, always went thru them as a kid

Who enters the dates for these entries???

[Nitro Fiend]

So are there currently national records for Stock and SS classes ? Seems just the pro categories.

Had difficulty finding these:

Class Index

Class Index

Class Index

www.nhra.com

(Links look like the same web address, but there are links at the bottom for Comp, SS and S)

[mick]

yes. go to tech on nhraracer.com, hit class indexes and records,
then hit 1/4 mile national records, scroll down and you will see nationals records for comp, ss, and stk

[Nunz]

While all the records are listed, for everything from TF on down, it can be a bit tricky to find them. Sure was cool (and easier) when they were in the back of ND.

Click the link in the first post. I just changed the year because Nhra didn't race in Martin until this year. On second look not only did Langdon set a record in Martin on 8-31-2025 but Brittany Force also set a record on the exact same date in Indy and it's from nhra.com!

I remember the A/Gas record in the 11's, around 1962. I used to remember the name of the team....
