the GM display were dynoing an engine repeatedly. It drew big crowds. I guess people were waiting to see it blow up?

OK, so here's the Saturday "thing/deal/story" that happened to me.

So a couple weeks back, I'm on the computer, but with the TV in the living room on in the background. Out of the corner of my eye I see drag racing.
WTH?!
It's a TV commercial for a contest being held by a local TV station and NHRA!
Cool. So they show the website and I immediately check it out. Seeing no funny business, I registered.
Couple weeks later, it's my birthday. One of the calls I got that morning was to inform me that I was chosen as the winner!!!!
But dig this, it includes a "Stand on the start" experience! Wow, could it be true? So they tell me come down to get the tickets at NBC studios in Burbank.
So Friday morning off I go. They explain everything and man, was I stoked.
They gave me a shirt too.

So I head to the Powerade experience at 11:00am as instructed ( I took Chris Cook too!)
and met with the NHRA liason. Things were running a little behind, so while we were waiting, we were given a tour of the new suites!

HELL FVCKIN' YEAH!!!!!!!!

Incredible. The nitro was so massively intense. When the cars burned it out, it was so awesome. Then when they launched.....un frickin real! I was wearing ear protection, but it still hurt bad! (in a good way). My internal organs emulsified.
Probably the best experience of my life. Being in the stands does not even compare to this. Remember the "old" Sonoma when you could stand at the fence "on" the start line? Not even close to being the same!
My hands were shaking uncontrollably for like an hour after. The nitro had permeated my sinuses, esauphogial tube, and lungs. I could smell it for a good hour after even! So friggin' good and delicious!

After the "experience" we were escorted back out.
Cornucopia concessions hires nice looking girls and provides low cut tops.

the slot is where they squirt the gas(alky?) to start the motor

That is probably where they squirt it in, but I doubt that is what it is there for...that slot would have a pretty dramatic affect on idle speed...probably needed it to get proper angle on the butterflys with that 4 square injector...
