Maple Grove :(

What a mess, rushing this through will kill what could be a hell of a race. It's so screwed up now why not run finals on Monday. Just a thought

8.85 and 9.54 being good for the top half of the field in the fuel classes tell the story

I would have thought McMillen would have been put at the bottom of the ladder with NT like Hale and Lee were in Funny Car.

**** SPOILER ALERT BELOW ****

Brittany Force was the only Top Fuel car to get down the track, 3.72 @ 331MPH ... Robert Hight was the only one to get down the track in Funny Car with a 3.92 @ 329 MPH. Everyone else, and I mean everyone else, smoked them at the hit or early in the run. Pro Stock was the only representative session, Drew Skillman was low with a 6.50 ... For the conditions, not that great of a number. The only conclusion I can draw is that it is too cold.

And as I am typing this, I am going to GUESS that they are calling it a day as DRC is posting eliminations ladders ...

What do ya mean TOO cold? a TF .72 & a FC .92 what more do you want? There's nothing wrong with that air. The rest will figure it out too.

I know several here are capable of tuning 3.70s from their keyboard at any time, but yes there is such a thing as too cold of conditions. Just because the conditions are cold that doesn't mean they're stellar. If the track is too cold the racing will not be good. 1 out of 16 funny cars made it and 2 out of 15 dragster (3 if you want to count McMillen who hit finish line cones). That's not good racing. If the track is in the same condition tomorrow the results will be the same. Luckily the air temp should be about 10 degrees warmer and they going to start running cars at 8:30 so if they can keep running cars down it the track temp will hopefully be in the 70s. Those are your stellar conditions, not today's.

Thats being a little dramatic.... There's a big difference between an unprepared track and a wet track with rain misting on it.

I only (sarcastically) mentioned " unprepped track" and those who call for less prep in racing because the results would be similar...not trying to take away any effort the Safety Safari has put into the prep of this weekend's track.....or Mother nature's effort to undo said prep!

besides, they race Top Fuel in the rain...don't they? Here's coverage of today's first round...

Leah Pritchet went 3.78 for the number 2 spot.

I think the 3.72, and the 3.92 prove my point. The others just missed the set up, it happens. They'll do much better tomorrow, wait & see.
I have every faith in the crew chiefs.

Zap....if I said I was a good teacher and and then 1 out of 16 kids passed an objective test on what I was teaching, would that prove my point? You are flat out wrong about this.

I think we found out what is too cold. Wow, I still can't feel my fingers or toes. Hoping tomorrow is better.

The NHRA and track officials, along with the Safety Safari did the best they could with the hand they were dealt and they should be commended for that, but for all intents and purposes today was a disaster with nobody to blame except Mother Nature. Tomorrow should be better.

He hit a cone and was disqualified.
I know that. The run was disqualified. That means he got no qualifying time or speed. I don't understand how no run is viewed as qualified while a DQ'd first run is not. Crossing the centerline during qualifying doesn't (or shouldn't) DQ the driver from the event when other drivers (Hale and Lee) are seeded onto the ladder with what was also no qualifying time or speed.

They took the tree without a DQ, that's why they're in. If Terry had taken the tree and not DQ'd by hitting the cone he'd be in too.
