Maple Grove on 2027 NHRA schedule? (18 Viewers)

Interesting because IHRA wasnt contracted with FS1.

The man invested time and money to try and improve the sport, sorry it wasnt up to your standards
Thanks Mike, I’d like to know how many on here actually went to an IHRA race. The amount of negativity from the start was way over the top. I’m framing that picture of us with you and Eric at Columbus!

I am truly hoping the IHRA gets things in order and continues to operate and achieve their goals, but...why are so many people getting their panties in a wad over this...just a few short years ago (3 ish) the IHRA was a non player and nobody was piss'n and moaning then.
It was taken as a threat to some people from the very start, never saw anything like it. Pissing and moaning right away.

And yet, those of us who were negative and who thought IHRA was overextending itself and trying to do too much too quickly turned out to be correct.

The other series just posted on Facebook the cancellation of the rest of the 2026 nitro events. All sorts of uncertainties for 2027.

Any odds the former owners could get the facility back, or that Maple Grove (or other facilities) may reappear on the 2027 NHRA schedule? Some former NHRA national event tracks are in need of major work if they will ever host big drag races again, but Maple Grove should be race-ready.
Well, someone's gotta talk about buying some paint............

That's debatable, maybe if you're 5 years old and love watching the slime on Nickelodeon.

Try to be positive - there could be potential new or prior sponsors for whom that color (or really close to it) is already in their logo.

Hulu, Tropicana, Siemans, Land Rover, BP, Android, Monster Energy Drink come to mind for starters.

Hess Oil, if they are still around, and if so, that's not far away from the track.

My understanding is Darrell picked that green because He was employed by Kawasaki in his early days. And something about honoring them.

If you are talking about Maple Grove, the word at the time was it was offered to them before being sold to Darrell and they turned it down.

I wounder if they might reconsider, and now that everyone knows how the last sale went maybe buy at a lower price.
How many Dragstrip buyers are out there and especially with experience.

I doubt NHRA is in any position financially to buy and operate any more drag strips. We are lucky they have not had to declare bankruptcy since 2020. Remember that they sold their long-time (and most likely free and clear) headquarters property in the Los Angeles area in order to raise cash to stay afloat.
