Well he makes alot of great points in his rant. Add a wing or more spoiler to them and that would do away with alot of the track prep issues.

Prof,

There was a QUESTION about Morgan shutting off? Where did I miss that?

ANYONE that was close to the starting line could hear that car popping after the long burnout. Broken lifter/pushrod/valve, whatever it was, that blue oval wasn't running on eight cylinders. I'm pretty sure even Marlie Matlin could have heard how bad the car was running......

Unk

He is on medication, think he forgot it that day he done this post. LOL

Pro Stockers today look like a potato cut in half and stuck on the track. Don't see much in the way of aerodynamics to keep them straight.

They should stick a wing on the back like NASCAR's car of tomorrow. I don't see the fans throwing a fit over a little wing on the back of them. Heck, half the Honda Civics where I live have them.

Unk...you did not just...:eek:Monitor clean up in aisle 5 please!

Yeah, but Yates chimed in on another thread saying that adding wing/downforce isn't the answer, so................

Sean D
His post was in reference to the added costs, not the fact that it wouldn't work. If it helps with the track preparations between the various classes, then it's probably a positive thing.

"The affect of putting more wing in a Pro Stock Car is that it creates more down force.

This increase in downforce only helps if the surface is slick, not bumpy.

If there are HUGE bumps in the track and you put more downforce in the car it will make the bumps cause more tire spin and possibly crashes.

The bumps in the track surface at Firebird caused driveshaft spikes that were higher than I have ever seen at a NHRA national event.

These spikes were causing the rear tire to spin 33% of the time the car was in 3rd and 4th and 5th gear,

The only way to fix the problem is to grind the bumps out of the surface. very simple fix if you are willing to admit you have a problem."

Maybe you and I are talking about different posts, Lance, I don't know. This is the one I was talking about. It looks to me like he's saying it may actually make the problem worse. I questioned him later in the thread, but he didn't respond.

There were a couple of people here that thought he shut off because of the condition of the track.

Sorry Sean, yes I was reading a different post. And true, Phoenix definitely has track issues that need to be dealt with.

The issue that Larry Morgan is refering to is the fact that the track prep has to be different for the Nitro cars vs. the Pro Stock cars. This came about a few years ago with the tire chunking issues in the Nitro classes.

Alright, that,s it. I,ll spring for nat. drag. sub. and I,ll get my buds to do the same, if all you guy,s will follow suit, n.h.r.a can use said funds to add two more lanes, to member tracks. Problem solved, two lanes - pro-stock- sportsman, two lanes- nitro. Why don,t they come to me sooner. GEEEEEEZ.

Pro stock sucks anyway. Those cars are just promods without a wing & blower. Get rid of the class altogether and let em all move up to Pro Mod where the real excitement is. Am I clear enough, I Dislike PRO STOCK!

Craig,
To each their own, but I would suggest you spend some time to learn, understand and know about what you say you hate so much.
In reality, they're not even close, other than they are both tube chassis with bodies over them, but then again, that describes F/C & T/F too, doesn't it. Spend some time to get the know the class. It is as interesting and involved as your P/M class and they both have their own unique idiocyncrasies that define the class.

I'm a fan of Drag Racing and enjoy every class out there. The challenge of taking a stocker to the winners circle is just as challenging as taking a F/C, there isn't any of it easy.

But that's just my .02, see you at the races!

That's the way I feel about drag racing too.
Bob, will we see you at the Cajun SportsNational?
