Hardest Working Man In Pro Stock, Morgan Ready To Reap Some Rewards At Gators (1 Viewer)

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (March 11) - After opening the Pro Stock season with mechanical issues of all types, Larry Morgan, driver of the Lucas Oil/MAVTV For Mustang has gone back to the drawing board ahead of this weekend's NHRA Gatornationals at Auto Plus Raceway.

"We've been working on everything," Morgan said. "Car, engine, people - we've been working on everything and everybody."

Morgan and his team got off to a rough start because of a faulty computer on his car, which threw off his tune-up and caused him to burn up engine parts. That problem has been solved and Morgan said he has been putting in overtime to catch the team up with the Pro Stock pack.

"We've been thrashing hard," Morgan said. "We had so many issues with that box that we're looking forward to going testing before Gainesville to finally make some good runs.

"We tested and ran real good before the start of the year, changed that box and it all went downhill in a hurry. We're just trying to get back to where we were before Pomona."

Morgan said he's going to keep an eye on the weather forecast and head to either Valdosta, Ga., or Bradenton, Fla., for a quick test session before rolling into Gainesville.

"Weather permitting, we'll be out there testing," Morgan said. "We'll bring a motor with us that ran real strong before the year, but broke because of that bad box. It's been rebuilt and put on the dyno and looks great.

"We've spent a lot of time fixing the stuff that got tore up because of that issue. We're back to square one and just looking forward to getting down there with our equipment as good as it can be."

Qualifying for the NHRA Gatornationals gets under way at noon EDT Friday from Auto Plus Raceway and continues at that same time on Saturday. Eliminations start at 11 a.m. on Sunday. ESPN2 will air the qualifying show at 1:30 a.m. EDT on Sunday and the eliminations show at 7 p.m. Sunday evening.
