Lake Tahoe (1 Viewer)

Ok guys, I'm ready to go!!!! This week is dragging bye! Pam and I leave this Sat morning and are going to stay thru Tues. I have heard there is a buffet by the Reno airport called Tucan Charlies thats suppose to be the #1 buffet in the US. So we will see. Any of you locals around there know anything about the poker scene there? As for any great tourney's or cash games to play? Just wondering. I figure when I get there I will go around to the casinos and figure out which ones I want to play so I can plan the wife's and my adventures around the poker games. After all, thats what payed for the airfare anyways.

With all of the snow that they got out there in the past couple of weeks, it should really be beautiful on the lake.

Murdock.

Tucan Charlies is OK--But up at the lake-- try to go to Harrah's buffet for dinner one night. Tons of different kinds of food and the dessert section is amazing. It has stopped snowing, but it is really cold. Have a good time--Bob

Well I'm back, thank God! We got there Sat and since we had traveled all day we just walked around a little and ate dinner and went to bed. Sun morning we got up and ate breakfast and then my wife wanted to go take some pics of the lake so we did. Problem is she fell and broke her right arm. Spent Sun in the ER. Tried getting an earlier flight home but couldnt for various reasons. Finally Monday after spending all day Sun in teh ER and the room she felt ok enough to get out and walk around some and we took a sleigh ride.

Mon night I did go to the casino a little while b/c I couldnt stand the room any longer. Poker is almost non-existent in Tahoe. Really surprised me. Only 3 casinos have it and Harrah's doesnt even have a poker room. I thought the lady who told me that was nuts when I asked. They own Harveys who does have it but I didnt care for the setup so I played at MontBleu. Finished 6th out of 32 in a $40 tourney but it only payed 4 spots. Then I bought in for $100 at the $1/$2 no limit holdem cash game and cashed out for $174 only playing an hour b/c I needed to go check on my wife. If I could have stayed there and played I probably could have made a couple hundred bucks.

Lost $20 on a slot machine, $40 on roulette, and won $11 on video poker so with just the little bit I played I finished down $15. I guess not to bad but no where near what I normally do. But given the circumstances, I guess it wasnt too bad. The wife and I decided no more winter vacations! No snow and ice for us.

I do have to say though it was very beautiful there and if your a local or go there you need to eat at Kalani's in the Heavenly area. It was awesome. The Heavenly and Rainbow rolls were exceptional.

Ouch! Sorry to hear that Justin. Hope it wasn't to serious of a break. Sure takes the fun out of a vacation trip. At least she got some pictures and a sleigh ride. I'll bet she got real sick of the room too.

Hope she heals up quickly. Bring her back in the summer, it's safer then. :D

Oh Justin, I'm sorry to hear your wife had such a misfortunate accident in Tahoe. I'm even sorrier to hear you didn't ski your eyes out. That place is skier's heaven. Visiting Tahoe in the winter without skiing is like spending a week in Cancun without ever getting wet? Give your wife a big hug for all the Maters who are sorry for her accident.

Damn, that sucks Justin. Hopefuly she heals up ok. Bad way to spend a short vacation.

We've gambled a few times at Tahoe, and never had any luck. Others have told me the same thing.

Justin, sucks man. The only luck I ever had in Tahoe was playing bingo one saturday afternoon and hit it for $1200.:)

Thanks everyone for your replys. She's getting better. I took her to work today. They prescribed her some valium (spl) yesterday and that seems to help her alot. So we will see.
