Although I would never discourage anyone who can afford, and compete, in NHRA Pro Stock Racing, he can only attend 1 race prior to the Countdown.
Gainesville.

It may draw some early Florida based NASCAR spectators, but him racing PS next year is not more than a 1 or 2 race deal. Max.

He will not be a fixture in NHRA, and probably more of a hindrance.

I can't see anything negative here. Remember, Shell/Pennzoil is moving to Penske next year and Kurt will be driving that car. He is certainly not hurting for money personally and if he could interest Mopar, Pennzoil and/or The Captain something could happen. Probably not next year, but possibly a two car effort in 2012 with Kurt making a couple of appearances and a deserving driver in his car for the rest. And . . . a current Mopar driver in the lead car.
Hey, it could happen! We can always hope.

Do you really think he is gong to walk away from his paycheck to play around? Really?

I don't believe I said he was going to walk away from NASCAR. Sometimes it's just fun to speculate.
That money and ride might leave a driver like Dave Connely, EE, or someone else sitting.

If he does win in his rent-a-ride, will he show up a week later? Nope.

But, hey, its good for the cross over fans, right?

That money is not going to leave anyone sitting. He's the one getting a deal for himself; he's not stealing sponsorship from another driver.

I guess I just feel like this is a good thing. Same for Tony Stewart hopefully getting a crack at a Top Fuel car this winter.

I can see no negatives from Kurt showing up and giving it a crack. So what if he qualifies? It would be no different than any other part-timer showing up and qualifying, except for it would generate about 1000 times the media exposure. He is spending his own money, so he is not getting over on another regular NHRA competitor. Come on in Kurt, the water is fine.

Here is a thought ... NASCAR competitors are rarely competitive past 40 ... but NHRA competitors are regularly competitive past 40. Maybe Kurt is testing the waters for life after Cup. I am not saying everyone needs to kiss his arse, but we should at least stay out of his way and let him do his thing.

Does this mean there will be a bunch of wreckin now lol.

Well put Chris, I agree 100%.

The only difference between Busch racing 1, or a few races a year, and the other guys that only hit the ones close to them is, Busch will bring a whole bunch of outside influences with him. I don't see how him dropping in at any event, to participate, or watch, is a negative thing. I just hope he doesn't have a problem making the right turn at the end of the track when the turnoff is to the right. :D

So you can't see that Kurt Busch competing in Pro Stock at one National event will create more interest from non Drag Racing media than the last year combined?

Watch your head on the branches.....
Huh, I always see it refered to as NASCRAP around here.
I guess 2 faced fans are better than none.

Yes, some fans don't like NASCAR. But there are those that actually do like it.

Either way though, NASCAR and him using that as his main source of living has nothing to do with this. If Kurt Busch comes to the Gatornationals, it is to go drag racing.

Earlier in the year Kurt went to the Gatornationals and got more tv coverage on Sportscenter and many other NASCAR outlets and several locla news sports broadcasts.... and he wasn't in a PS car.. imagine what type of press he will get and bring to the NHRA with this venture... weither its one race or more... its good PR for drag racing....

Kurts realy into drag racing... like him or NASCAR or not... its gonna be a win-win deal for bringing drag racing into more house holds .. and that makes sponsors happy that are here.. and it makes new potential sponsors look at drag racing more..... some might want to be with Kurt.. some might look for other opertunities with other teams.

What have drag racing fans who don't like NASCAR got to do with this discussion? That point is completely irrelevant to what we are talking about.

Even if someone doesn't like NASCAR or Kurt Busch, but they are a drag racing fan, then they should think this is a good thing. It doesn't make them two faced. Two faced is having two different opinions on the same subject that you tell different parties.

The point is that Kurt will bring non more non Drag Racing media to the event he enters than probably any other race on the tour.
