Knowles Takes Semi-Final Finish at PBIR Shakedown; Ready for Gators (1 Viewer)

March 7, 2011

Grand Junction, CO– Mike Knowles is a happy man! After a weekend in
Florida the self made business man is back home in his Colorado office
with a little color and a big smile on his face. Three eighty runs
will do that to a Pro Mod guy.

“We had a great weekend. I knew Al (Billes) wouldn’t need much time
to get acquainted with my car and my guys but man did everything gel
quickly. They crept up on the tune up but after a few hits Al was on
it,” said Knowles.

Knowles qualified his Tim McAmis built ’68 Camaro in the number three
position with a 3.87 eight mile pass. Knowles defeated Pete Farber and
his ’69 Daytona in round one with a 3.89 to Farber’s 3.99. Round two
saw Knowles posted another 3.89 run in his round two defeat of
Sweden’s Mike Gullquist. The weekend ended in the semi-finals against
Shannon Jenkins and his AL-Anabi ’69 Camaro. Both cars faced traction
problems but Jenkins was quicker to recover taking the win with a 4.18
elapsed time.

“I had a great time here. I grew up down here and have some friends
here so this is really cool. The event was fantastic. Dave Hance did a
great job and so did the staff here. Our performance this weekend
really has me looking forward to Gainesville and I just couldn’t be
happier with my entire crew,” said Knowles.

The next stop for the “Blown Money” team will be the 42nd annual Tire
Kingdom NHRA Gator Nationals in Gainesville, Fl. March 11-13. Mike
Knowles and the other Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge
competitors will be afforded three shots at making it into the 16
field for eliminations. Round one of qualifying will be held Friday,
March 11, at 1:45 PM (EST). The second round will be later that same
day at 4:30 PM. The final qualifying attempt will be Saturday at 12:45
PM. The first round of eliminations will be held later that same day
at 4:15 PM. Final eliminations will run in conjunction with Sunday’s
professional eliminations.

Following the Tire Kingdom NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway,
