Jim Yates no longer employed by AJR?

Never had a chance to meet or talk to Jim, but from all accounts he's A! , hope he finds a spot!

I briefly met Jim and his wife at one of the Pro Stock Showdown events in Houston about 10 years ago... couldn't have been any nicer.

what was his position with AJR?....if your not a driver, crew chief, or owner, how do you make a decent salary
PS racing?....maybe nobile leaving put a pinch on the finances.... .02 guess would be the Johnson's have spent
a few small fortunes over the last few years trying to catch the summit guys, and they finally did, but i'm sure
it didn't come cheap.

Pretty sure Yates was co-crew chief with his responsibility being chassis setup. Roy Johnson has had the horsepower for quite a while but they had a problem getting it to the track, in comes Yates and helps them to the consistency that got them to the last 2 championships. I am big fan of Jeggie and AJ, I hope they can keep the ball rolling next year.

also a big fan of what the Johnson's have accomplished....always found it odd that when Jeg came back
that they couldn't build a successful program on their own, the man sure can drive, arguably the best.
anyone know if dodge is back with same car next year again?....shouldn't they changing to a challenger by now?

Yes, the rumors are true.... I am no longer part of the Allen Johnson / Jeg's team.
Everything ended amicably, I had a good talk with both Allen and Jeg and I would say we are still friends.
They are just going to try a different group of team members next year.
I am still looking to stay out there and work with a Pro Stock Team.
Let me know if you have any leads...LOL.

That sucks Jim, you have helped that team win the last 2 World Championships, with those results it is shocking that they would want to bring in a different group of people. I guess that's the racing business, good luck in the future and with your resume you shouldn't have any problems finding work.

Paul, as you know for every door that closes another door opens.
I sure can't complain about the opportunities I have had to work with some pretty good teams and I think the results have been OK.
I am really excited to see what is behind the next door!!

Ditto.

As I've stated in previous threads over the past couple of years, what impresses me the most is the relentlessness. We've all seen teams over the years run whatever brand was necessary at the time through sponsorship opportunites or what have you. These guys, however, have stayed with the Mopar brand through the rough times of being not a whole lot more than also-rans. Now they're World Champions, and consistent contenders.

I'm a die-hard GM guy, but I can absolutely appreciate that.
