Jim Yates no longer employed by AJR?

Yes, the rumors are true.... I am no longer part of the Allen Johnson / Jeg's team.
Everything ended amicably, I had a good talk with both Allen and Jeg and I would say we are still friends.
They are just going to try a different group of team members next year.
I am still looking to stay out there and work with a Pro Stock Team.
Let me know if you have any leads...LOL.

Personally,I was glad to see you arrive and get their ship righted.Best of luck to you.

He has always been down to earth. I thought it was funny that he would come to my pit area to ask me what the wind was worth at Topeka. Most Pro Stocker people think they are too good for us sportsman but not Jim.

Good luck, wish I had some leads for you.

what was his position with AJR?....if your not a driver, crew chief, or owner, how do you make a decent salary
PS racing?....maybe nobile leaving put a pinch on the finances.... .02 guess would be the Johnson's have spent
a few small fortunes over the last few years trying to catch the summit guys, and they finally did, but i'm sure
it didn't come cheap.
Salary is probably not an issue with Jim. He sold a chain of auto parts stores several years ago. He probably does the crew thing for the fun of it.

Wow...sure hope this was the right decision for the Mopar cars. It's hard to imagine that it was. I first met Jim through my friend, Jerry Bickel, at the Topeka race in '98. Jim was running his Firebird in McDonalds trim. They were great hosts. I wish Jim the best. He is a brilliant Pro Stock driver/owner/crew chief/cosultant. Wherever Jim lands, that team will pick up!

I worked with Jim on his car for quite a few years as his data guy. I called him the human dyno. Besides Jim, I worked with all the other GM teams assisting with data acquisition. I was able to walk into any of my teams and look at their data. It was a pretty fun gig and I learned alot. Jim is amazing at getting the most out of the engines capabilities run after run. I think it would be pretty slick if he would end up with an ADRL or whatever its called now Nitrous PM car. He would clean house. Plus with all the nitrous experience he had running his PS car.....just kidding.

Thanks Toby.....
That was a great recommendation... right up until the Nitrous comment.
I do miss you and your sense of humor.
I don't think I am ready to leave the circuit quite yet, so I am still hoping for something good to come along.
Hope you and the family had a great Christmas.
Jim

Listening to Chris on the WFO Radio show for 1/14/14 it seems like they are heavily relying on Edwards' engine technology with Chris himself and an ex Nickens guy being their engine department. I hope they can evolve in a way to keep up with the big guns in pro stock on the horsepower side. It would be great to see Chris pick off a win occasionally.

I'm glad to hear that Jim is going to tune that car and i am looking forward to seeing what they can do in 2014. I hope Chris and Jim can have success right off the trailer.
