I use the Tracfone, recommended by Cavemen across the land! Too bad it doesn't work in the Cave though!

For reals? A Tracfone? Which phone do you have exactly? One of them Nokia bar phones?

Doncha think you might wanna ease into this 21st century technology?

Oh, I know I'm gonna regret this, but hows about the Pantech Breeze on at&t?

Hmm. You are quite the challenging caveman with your fancy Nikon camera and low rent dumbphone.

When Nikon comes out with an integrated Cell phone, Joe will be seen walking around the pits talking to his DSLR. It might scare away his eye candy a bit.

He can sing

"I got-ta Ni-kon camera,
I love to take-a photo-graphs,
Mama don't take my cell phone away!"

Ahahahahaha! That's better than him elbowing me out of the way for the best shot of whatever crazy thing Scelzi might be doing. :p

crackberry is the only way... stay well away from the iphone!!!

And then you can use the bb instant messenger and we can talk racing and all types of stuff haha ;)

Well, I disagree with the 'stay away from the iPhone' sentiments, I've got one that I can't seem to let go but CrackBerry is a great device.

I love my Curve but I want a Bold.

But I dunno that Mr. Caveman could handle going from crappy Tracfone to a BlackBerry. That's a big leap. I think he needs baby steps.

I like the Sony Ericsson z750 as a stepping stone ... or gateway phone. :p

I bet you didn't know that Nikon Makes a Caveman Camera???? As for the Caveman phone it says 1310 A.D. on the back, so I guess the answer is NO!:p

I just say that because I'm pro Blackberry, that and my friends recent 16g iphone died, but he got it replaced.

I love my curve too, but boy do I want that bold... and NOW!!! ;)

I love my BB. Very much. Been carrying a BB of some kind for more than two years now. I thought for sure I'd get rid of the iPhone in a month or two. Here we are six months later and I just dig it. I did the firmware update to 2.0.1 using the Pwnage tool (unlocked so I can just use my BB data plan all the time and jailbroken so I can play with themes) a couple weeks ago. Now my work e-mail can be pushed OTA with full sync of e-mail, contacts and calendars on the iPhone since our work e-mail is compatible with the Exchange Server set up on the iPhone that came out with the major firmware update last month. So, it's just as functional in that respect as my Curve, I just wish it did MMS.

The Bold, though, hubba hubba. I'm eligible for an upgrade soon and I am so using it on that.

Joe, I know you don't have a Caveman camera, I seen it! Speaking of cameras, I'm about to buy my first entry level DSLR in a couple weeks, but I can't decide between the Nikon D60 and the Canon EOS XSi.

What say you about that, Mr. Caveman?

Have you decided what phone you're gonna get yet? We've been talking about this for a week now. Sheesh!

I know two people that bought the Nikon over the Canon, and have major regrets. I really haven't taken the time to inquire why.

I have a friend that is a Professional Photographer, and he tests all the different brands. He too was not impressed with the Nikon, and hasn't been with several models. It's not because he is a Canon lover exclusively, because I know he absolutely loves other brands too. He is big on the Fuji's right now. Said the performance is unbelievable.

You've seen my Camera? Ask your Friend about the Nikon "C" Cameras, the "C" Stands for Caveman! As for the i-touch I'm waiting for MY Caveman Ipodto die! Too Bad this Caveman Mac doesn't do smileys!

Sure I have and anyone who watched that Scelzi Sez segment 2 years ago at Vegas 2 has seen it, too. ;)

Being that I'm not a Caveman I don't think I need the C model. LOL.

I have an iPod Touch on my birthday list. My iPod video is almost 2 years old. My first iPod, a fourth gen, was sold a couple months ago and it was still ticking after 3 1/2 years.

Perhaps you should get one of the drivers to run over your iPod to kill it. :p

Depends on how impatient you are. ;)

I have a EOS XTi and love it. It was recommended to me by one of my salesmen who does pro photography on the side.

For what it's worth, my beloved LG cell phone is being retired. The slots that old the back of the phone in place have broken and fallen in, leading to a rattling sound when you move it, and since the back doesn't hold itself in, the battery connection is falling out. I love my LG phone, it had a stainless backing plate that took a considerable amount of beatings.

I filed an insurance claim and they don't have any more LG 8700's so they are sending me a Samsung Gleam. At least filing the insurace doesn't affect my new every 2.

My sister in law got an XTi about six months ago and loves it, too.

I am seriously considering getting the XSi at this point but the Nikon D60 package comes with two lenses! :D

It's a tough decision. All of our photographers for the newspaper group uses Canons, granted they're Mark IIs, but they all swear by Canon.

I kind of think I'll be happy either way.

Oh, my father in law has the VX8700. I bought it from a friend because FIL ran out of insurance claims. :p Great phone. Too bad they're out. But, the Gleam looks pretty sweet, that's a nice upgrade. :D

Canon and Nikon Still Rule the Digital roost, as far as Mark II's, have you checked the price of those? It must be fun working for a newspaper using High $$$ Stuff, all my photog buddies that work for the local papers always have those 300-400m f2.0 lenses that cost like $5-6000! I'm in the wrong business.

I've heard, from the Mater's very own on staff Verizon rep :) that the Gleam was a bit of a downgrade.

We'll see, the VX8700 was very good to me. It has 8 dents on it, and countless scratches, and has been dropped, kicked, drop kicked, thrown, and stepped on, and it still worked fine. I firmly believe that if I didn't have that phone, I would have already maxed out my insurance claims. :)

LOL. If it's a newer, it's an upgrade, especially if it works.

You dented the VX8700? Wow. I am impressed. My father in law is a firefighter/EMT/fire inspector and he hasn't managed to dent it. Yet. :p

I'm surely interested to hear what you have to say about it. Been a while since I've had the big V and they release so many new phones anymore it's hard to keep up.

I know some good forums if you have any questions and can't get the 'Mater Verizon rep. :D

Hey, Joe! Did you ever make up your mind?

Well, DHL lost my gleam (Honestly, that was one thing I could have done myself), so I'm waiting for Assurion to send me another one. Should have it tomorrow.

I finally got the Gleam, and as usually the case, it's got it's pros and cons.

Pro-

It's car themed! The menu is like an Odometer there's a message, voicemail and clock in the shape of gauges that go up according to the amount of messages you have. When you get a text message, it honks. Sounds like a VW bug horn. It's actually pretty funny. I work on a small town main street and we are used to people honking a friendly hello, so we'd always wave. My 2 1/2 year old niece picked up on the 'hear a honk and wave' theme so every time the phone gets a message, she waves. To anybody. She just waves.

It's pretty sleek, and you can close the phone and use the front screen to watch yourself as you are taking pictures of yourself. Handy for those arm length photos.

Cons-

The speakerphone seems to not be as good as my LG.

You can't check the time without opening it. It has a clock on the front screen, but you can't push a button to see the time like my LG.

I haven't figured out the MP3 player yet. No time and the phone that Assurion sent me (the second one) didn't come with instructions, since instructions came with the one that was lost.

It's also a little bit slow, sometimes I have to wait just a second or two for the screen to turn on when I open it.

Notables.
I let the battery charge fully the first time but the second time, I let it charge over night and it didn't come up to full stregnth.

Battery life seems okay, I sent a mess of text messages and about 320 minutes on the phone since I got it on Wednesday (most of it on hold).

Picture qaulity seems okay too.
