Indy schedule??

So, after today both SG and SC will be through 3 rounds and down to 15 cars if things run as scheduled.
Unless SG and SC are going to finish Saturday or Sunday, it frankly seens ludicrous to me to take 3 whole days ( til Monday afternoon) to run 4 rounds to eliminate 15 or so cars.

There are so many cars and so many classes and a few exhibitions, that we almost always run way past the planned end of day schedule.
We had rain that lost over two hours on Wednesday and expected delays throughout the day that put us over two hours late yesterday.
Today, the schedule is from 8:00 AM to 9:30 PM and will likely go beyond that.

That is correct Mike. Pro Mod 1st round also. Have to make Monday manageable because it is one packed raceday:
- 4 rounds normal Pro classes
- 4 rounds of TF Harley
- Factory Stock Showdown rounds
- and the remaining rounds of Pro Mod, Top Alcohol, and sportsman eliminations.
David nailed it. But a big factor is the fact that Thursday and Friday are dedicated to Stock and Super Stock class eliminations and subsequent teardown so they do not eliminate any of those cars until later in the weekend. For many of those guys, its all about Class and not necessarily the actual eliminator field.
If you look at the schedule you will see that SC/SG will each only run 1 round an both Saturday and Sunday. But, Saturday and Sunday are focused (loaded) on Stock/Super Stock eliminations with multiple rounds each day to get them caught up to the rest of the fields going into Monday. Plus once you get to Saturday ... it's all about the Pros until the race ends on Monday.
Yes, there is a lot going on schedule-wise, but I still maintain taking 3 whole days to run 4 rounds to eliminate 15 cars is not a good thing.
People have mentioned on other threads there is no Saturday night session and the schedule shows one round of SG and SC today. One more round could easily be inserted today consisting of SC/SG quarter finals when the other Sportsmen classes are scheduled after the 3rd Pro Session, and the event would still be done well earlier than yesterday (we're only talking about 8 pairs of cars that would take 5-10 minutes)..
Sunday, run Semis and have SG/SC Finals before the last round of nitro qualifying. They would run Finals before a crowd as large or larger thsn Monday. You've added basically nothing with any substantial effect on the event, and tbose guys can go home a day earlier.

The schedule for the next three days is ALL about meeting the TV schedules! This is an entertainment event and the Pro's will always get priority.
The huge fields in the Sportsman classes mean long sessions for each class. Stock and Super Stock qualifying were almost an hour and a half each! The Wednesday and Thursday schedules look like not much is happening, but there are cars running from early to late each evening.
Most national Events have a restricted number of cars per class, but Indy draws a ton of cars!
