If you could bring back an old NHRA class ...

Yes NV, it was a lot cooler. I loved the super slasses when they first started. And yes I did sit and watch them, but not now. A drag race is a contest of acceleration, not a coast-a-thon.

I buy a ticket to see cars race, not idle for 200ft in front of me. And don't even try to explain it to a newbe. And they wonder why the empty seats. they are shooting themselves in the foot.

I've said for a long time, if they must coast, then do it on the top end, not in front of 90% of yer audience.

How about a new version of Pro Comp? Only one way to make it better than it was---ALL NITRO!!! Instead of BB/FCs, let's have Nostalgia AA/FCs, along with fuel altereds, and injected nitro FEDs. All heads-up, with rules allowing for combos to produce, maybe, low 6's from all the various types of cars. Sure, it's another parity nightmare, but hey, if we're dreaming...:D

Loved those 4 speed wheel stands as the cars went down the track.

The last paragraph from this article is so true

Interestingly enough, had the Modified class survived, the crop of race cars would probably not look much different than the current crop of Chevy Cobalts, Pontiac GXPs, and other full-bodied entries that can be found racing in Comp and Super Stock. It's also likely that advances in automatic-transmission technology and the advent of clutchless and planetary gearboxes would have significantly altered the landscape of Modified.

If I could bring back an old NHRA class I would like to bring back Pro-Stock Motorcycle! Seriously, I do miss the trucks.

People still use LinkedIn? When I was a Data Sales Engineer for the cable company in Vegas circa 2003 they required that we were on LinkedIn. I found little to no value to that site, I hope there have been wholesale changes.

I don't know how different it is now from back then, but I have yet to see any benefit to using LinkedIn, at least as it pertains to me.

As for what class I would like to see return, it's pretty much a tossup between AA/FA and Top Gas. Would love to see a bunch of those twin-engine cars.

I want Jet Cars to be a pro class, I remember when Al Hanna wanted to get Jet Car racing as a pro class back in the early 90s with ProJet.

But being realistic I liked Pro Stock Truck. I get sad when I see Chip Ippolito run in Comp and remember how I liked the Pro Truck class.

I think Pro Comp and Top Alcohol should be separate Classes, Pro Comp for the lesser capacity Supercharged Cars, Top Alcohol for the better ones with the Pro Tree Handicap like the Showdown. And The A/Fuel Cars can be Pro Fuel.

Jack, don't be a wet blanket and dash a kid's dreams. LOL

Okay, a gray haired kid's dreams.

I sure do miss the days of the Garley Daniels, Larry Kopp and 50 lb. flywheels.

Oh yeah .. and Bear Barrilleaux

Oh yeah---and there is just something way cool about a mid-year Corvette couple leaving the starting line at over 10 grand with the front wheels high in the air.:D

it's got to be modified. look at all the pro stock drivers to come from that class. mike edwards, jenkens.lingafelter and thats just scratching the surface. those people were drivers. the pits at indy would be full of those cars.the last modified winner at indy was mike edwards i believe.

I appreciate all the well wishers who want AA/FAs included in some sort of NHRA class. But, please don't do us any favors. When the AA/FA group in 1973 decided not to accept the "NO NITRO" mandate and go out on our own, we've never looked back. Using the Steve Evans coined "Outlaws" was the best thing that happened to AA/FAs. Yea, in the 1970s heydays we used to have 25 to 30 AA/FAs show up for 16 car shows at OCIR and Irwindale and there are only 12 to 15 1970s style AA/FAs that can run today, we are still running all the events we can afford to (10 to 15). That's because we don't have any AA/FA owners who are millionaires and we have to come as close as we can to braking even in our racing adventures, because most of us are still working for a living. I'm 69 years old and I would be retired if I wasn't drag racing.
Also, it's nice to race a car with out being told what to do and how to do it. The associations leave us alone as long as we don't do something stupid.
Sorry for the rambling,
