hey guys im going to be writing a 15 page research paper on drag racing and auto mobile racing in general and needed help on what topics i should cover if you all have any ideas thanks
Here are a few ideas for you....maybe go over some of basics about some the classes that make up drag racing...from Top Fuel and the way through the sportsman classes. A lot of tracks have a street legal night where high schoolers or novices can come out and learn how to legally drag race and stop racing on the street.
About racing in general, note some of the safety advanced that have taken place, like the soft wall you hear about in open wheel and nascar racing.
You could cover how advancements in racing translated into everyday cars that people buy.
Depending on what the class is for, you could even do marketing, its history and how sponsorships like Hot Wheels in the 70's with Snake and Goose helped boost the sport and the sponsor
Be sure to cover the different types of drag racing - index, dial, and heads up. You could write a whole book on just the strategy involved in index/dial in racing.
with the renewed intrest in street raceing. How about a paper on the fact that street raceing is NOT drag raceing. Im sure Glendora would provide you with lots of materials on that subject. good luck with your paper!
Whenever you mention "automobile racing" to the average Joe/Josephine on the street, because of market saturation by NASCAR, the first thing that pops into their heads is the major cup circuits and elite fields of drivers.
You might spend some time describing how drag racing is a form of racing that's available to darn near anyone that has a valid driver's license and owns a car that's in decent mechanical shape. You got a car or cycle you want to race? They'll find a spot for ya! discuss the fact that there are competitors from the age of 16 to men AND WOMEN who are in their eighties. Anyone can race. Truly a motor sport for the common person.
Don't forget to cover the technological advances made over the years too. Perhaps compare times and speed from today, vs 55 years ago.
