Well hello again everyone. Long time no see! It's been a very busy time since I last posted. I was looking back to see when that was. Post #60 during the Sonoma race was my last post and now this thread is over 160+. Pretty cool! Now it's Brainerd weekend and it looks like things are going good so far with Mike Edwards Motorsports. I believe today should be fast as well. I'm sure things will get shuffled around a bit. So has anyone actually come up with a conclusion to get rich fast yet on this thread? If not rich did anyone find a way to save money? I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. I also want to thank everyone for posting their thoughts and opinions. I've enjoyed reading them. I also want to tell Jim, "Great Job" announcing in Sonoma. Bob Fry does a great job but it nice to have someone who really knows "the behind the scenes" stuff that goes on in Pro Stock land.

I think it was already talked about this extensively. Just because valve springs are eliminated, do you really think that will make it cheaper to be competitive in PS? Hell no. The upper budgeted teams will still be spending more on R&D than the lower. Not to mention, its not just like you call XYZ and throw on a PVRS. There is alot of work involved, then get ready to practically start over in cam design. See how the costs can start right back up again? Thats the concern with a part like this. I really love PVRS, I think its great. Having worked with damn near every GM PS team over the last ten years, I bet if you would poll them if PVRS should be legal, the majority would say no. Mainly for the reasons mentioned earlier and highlighted here again.
Another point is valves operated by solenoid are cheaper component wise. Should they be legal? I can't imagine the R&D there lol.
Here is another side to think about....at the time WJ designed his version of PVRS, there were a couple valve spring companies actively involved in NHRA. There is your conspiracy theory.

I'm not in a position to know any rumors. Just hoping Nick or somebody can bring us up to speed on the progress of the new Fords. I want to make plans to go to Charlotte, or Richmond, or both. But only if there's gonna be at least one Ford P/S there. I did read on another site where Curtis Boggs stated that the new wedge heads are the first ones he's seen that he won't have weld up before porting to get them to make power. Things are looking up!

Since I am not apart of that program I can only really speculate on how the progress is coming along on the Ford program. I think we all have seen pictures of the car and its progress. As far as the engines program goes. I probably haven't heard anymore than anyone else has. I can say though even if the blocks and heads were done today. That still wouldn't leave much time to have anything ready by Charlotte. There is so much work that goes into building one of these things. Even after its built you have to go through all the dynoing stuff. After that you have to get the car, engine and clutch all working together. Lots and lots of time involved and personally I just don't see it happening by Charlotte. I think Richmond would be a stretch at that but like I said before I don't know all the details of the program. I hate to see you not to go to a race cause a Ford isn't there. I have been involved in racing for a long time and to me it isn't Ford, Mopar or Chevy that makes me want to go. It's the competition from Stock Eliminator to Pro Stockers that keeps me going. Hope to see ya at the races!

I can certainly appreciate that. I don't know what it would be like to NOT be brand loyal as I was born a dyed in the wool Ford guy. I've seen enough GM and Mopar P/S the last 15 years to make me puke. It's not worth the drive time and expense if there ain't gonna' be any Ford Pro Stockers there. I'd rather go somewhere close and race my bracket car. I'm sure if I worked in the P/S biz like you do, i would eventually become a little less brand loyal. But I can't even dream of that.
You're probably right though. Knowing how much work/time is involved in just building a solid bracket motor, I would expect to multiply the effort X100 for a P/S effort, especially a new combo.
I do want to go and show my support if at least one shows up however. A lot of people have put a lot of $$$ and effort into this and I want them to know there are people out here who appreciate it. And the are a LOT of us! Thanks for your input as always Nick!

Darin just posted this info on another forum on Friday or Saturday, so I would consider it pretty fresh info. To be as busy as he is, he's been awful good about putting periodic updates on the www for us that are information hungry. I'm sure glad somebody got him involved in the project as there is no doubt we're gonna' have the best heads and blocks out there. It's been an awful long time but things are certainly looking up!
Darin has Real castings in his hands and is already making chips. The castings look really good, it will be interesting to see what directions the teams go.
