How about a Hockeymater board???

Has a nice ring to it....

Anybody notice how all the A/SA cars at Houston jumped into AA/SA leaving only 3 cars in A/SA Sunday? Didn't think so...

Through working at the DU games, I've gotten to know the motorsports writer for the Denver Post - because he also covers most of the college hockey for the Post as well. As you can probably imagine, I tend to drive him nuts with my Kalitta preachings!

Speaking of First times....

This HAS to be the first time a thread was started to discuss yet another sport bumping NHRA from TV and fans of that sport have taken over the thread..

Terry, my apologies...
College Hockey is one of my other true passions...

No apologies necessary, Brian!!!! I LOVE a good thread hijack, and I must say this is a truly masterful one! Hockey on, my friends. I'll read and possibly learn something about the game besides the apparent need for large beer consumption!:D And, the Zamboni is really cool, too! Especially when it is shooting hot dogs into the stands...

Here's another tidbit of useless information..

No alcohol is served at NCAA games, no matter where they are played. When I went to the Frozen Four in Albany I believe, every seat in the arena has a Budweiser sticker on it (someone had to cover EVERY ONE OF THEM with NCAA stickers), and EVERY Beer banner in the place was removed or covered up.

I'm willing to bet that the "stickering" brigade at Ford Field starts next week!

Thankfully, there is re-entry in DC after Game 1 on Thursday, I'm sure the local bars will be PACKED during the downtime between the games.

No Beer????? Just ice and guys waving sticks and beating each other up????? Brian, Timmah, Chris....WTF??????

Let's clarify that - no beer at the NCAA TOURNAMENTS. It's served by the hundreds of gallons each Friday & Saturday at the many school arenas spread across this great country of ours. My beer drinking at hockey games is over - the school & the league tend to frown upon the people who are working the games to be sipping a cold one between whistles! :D

Another peculiar thing you'll notice in the Regionals & Frozen Four - all the signage on the boards is covered up. Only the NCAA Logo and the names of the participating teams are allowed, in strict, uniformed blue & white block-style font. There's no advertising anywhere in the building. Last year we had the Frozen Four here - at the Pepsi Center.... and there was not a Pepsi logo or name to be seen ANYWHERE. i wonder how many kids from these 4 teams will leave to go pro? Denver has 1 guy expected to sign tomorrow and forego his degree - possibly 2 others as well. It's becoming a real issue, that these NHL teams are allowed to pluck these kids out of school before they graduate.

Look at Chris Bourque, what's he been doing lately? I fear when they leave without their degrees. The speed and endurance of the NHL is FAR different from good ole' NCAA hockey. It can work though, look at Hal Gill. He played in the Hockey East tournament on Saturday and dressed for the Bruins on Sunday. There can be success stories, but what happens if there is an injury the first season - what are they going to do then.

I did hear alot of so and so signed with such and such a team, I just hope they hold off until they get their degrees.

Sounds like a bad dream eh?
Reminds me of a quote from one of my cornfield friends (he understands less about hockey than I do if that's possible) when we were attending a hockey game in Kearney. Quoth he: "Hell, if they didn't sell beer here, ya wouldn't have any trouble getting tickets would ya" Ain't Nebraska wisdom somethin?;)

I see we overstayed our welcome on the NHRA board. Let's keep this going. Do any of you guys have season tix?

no, but occasionally get tickets for UMD games.
bro-in-law owns bar and bought a package for his sat. TV for the hockey
tourny.........was good move; had good turnout for viewing last weekend
and assume the same next weekend

Yes, I've had season tix for the family to the Providence Friars for the last 5 years or so. I also try to hit a few away games each year as well.

One of my DU guys getting ready to fly the coop, should be a done deal within a day or 2:

The Spin

Richard Bachman from Colorado College (CC SUX) is also gone early, to the Dallas Stars.

PJ...I used to like you.

GO BLACKHAWKS!

Blackhawks...do they still play in the NHL???:p

PJ from the land known as Hockeytown, aka the Current, defedning and soon to be repeating (I hope) Stanley Cup champs, The Detroit Red Wings

Speaking of sports that I don't follow and/or know nothing about---Pro baseball has always made me wonder about:
1) the Toronto Blue Jays playing in the AMERICAN League....

2) A World Series contested by only teams from the United States

and most importantly what makes teflon stick to the pan???

What the hell, they moved the thread to the lounge--looks like the time is ripe for a HIJACK!!!!
