Hey Jenn!

I noticed that too Suzie!!!!! Show us the rock Jenn! :)

By the way, I LOVE Thomas' tee shirt. Takes guts to wear that in D.C.
Good for him!!!!!!!

Trust me Jackee, there were definitely times where I was very glad that I was walking around D.C. with a nearly 6 foot guy at 235 pounds with a black belt. There was a guy who ran up to him and said "You da man, Barrack Obama" and I was like "I think you missed the point there Paco" but we just walked on.

Alright guys, I'll post a picture, but it'll have to wait till I get home. I don't have a picture here at work since I have the real thing here.

In my defense, I had never seen a picture of Jenn. For some reason, from her posts on the board and in the Monday night chats, I thought she was older than me (I am 34). I have no idea why that thought lodged itself in my tiny brain, but it did. When Joe told me she was 25 or so I made the mistake of telling Joe I thought she was around 40. So we get to the dragstrip, and after introductions are made Joe tells her straightaway that I thought she was 40. I was embarrassed to say the least. To her great credit, Jenn took it in stride and the whole Jaramillo clan was very hospitable to us for the rest of the evening.

No worries Chris, there are people who've seen me on the track long before I was supposed to be old enough to be in the restricted areas who think that I'm older too.

There's also people who hear that I've worked at the same job for 16 years and think I'm older, but then they get clued in that child labor laws don't apply to family :)

I've been to DC a couple of times now. Great place

Done the White house tour, Lincoln, Jefferson, Washington as well as other monuments, a couple of the Smithstonians, got to sit in a congressional session, Iwo Jima, Arlington and the national Holocust Museum (a must do for anybody but be prepared it will rock you, didn't see a dry eye on anybody when they walked out) I even was semi accused of possibly having a bomb there once by and Arabic person. Ah yes great times

Still more to see whenever I get the chance to go back again

We missed the Holocaust museum. I wish we hadn't but we wanted to really see it, not just breeze through it. I started getting teary eyed at the wall because there was an old woman there who sat there just caressing the wall with tears running down her face.

The Arlington changing of the guards was breath taking too.

Jenn, I see you two went to the Tomb of the unknown soldier! That's quite a walk from what I remember! The Map made it seems like a block or two, WRONG!!!!!!

The walk there wasn't that bad, but the walk from there to JFK's gravesite was a tougher one. Plus the walk to the first colored regiment's gravesite was a bit of a stretch. I only had to use my inhaler once the whole time and it was there, because it's got some good hills and steps.

I almost had to use the puffer going to Lincoln's memorial, because I didn't think I could make it up the steps but they had an elevator that'd take you to the top so I wound up taking the elevator. Some woman on crutches pointed out to me that the elevator was for the disabled, not the lazy.

She couldn't have ruined my day though, nope nope nope!

I went to D.C. for 4 days back in '97 as part of a vacation with the Richmond NHRA race! Unfortunetly it rained 3 of those days! But the first day I was determined to walk everywhere possible, not sure the $$$ would last for 7 days if I paid for Cabs. After that first day of walking from the Lincoln Mem, to the Washington Mem, to the White house, To the Capitol, to the Post office, to the smithsonian, to Union Station! The Bottom of my feet the next morning were SOOO Sore I could hardly Stand on them! Needless to say from then on anything farther than a block or two and I was like "TAXI"!

We got a tour bus pass, it was kind of pricey, I think 37 dollars a person, but it was for two days, unlimited on and off so it was well worth it. They had stops all along the route and what we'd do was get off and then either go catch the bus or walk to the next stop. Unfortunately we did miss the last stop of the day so we had to walk two miles back to Union Station.

We said we were going to get a cab but we'd get to talking and looking at stuff that we'd miss them. Again, as it got darker, the more I appreciated walking next to a fairly tall guy with a blackbelt.
