Haddock....

I give Terry credit for being the Driver/Team Owner that "Tries" the hardest in NHRA Drag Racing...

I've known Terry Haddock for several years and can tell you no one has the "want to's" more than him. It is true that he is operating on some over extended parts, and he does it all from the drive the truck, drive the car, do the bottom end, build the racks and build the motors with a total volunteer crew and very little money to operate on. He does more with less than anyone else...and unfortunatly in show's just how much "less" he has.

The only thing that would help Haddock is money. Money to buy newer parts, money to hire a somewhat more knowledgeable tuner that has a "safe" A-B tuneup ala Johnny West, Paul Smith etc....

Terry has been the underdog and struggling to compete for many years...but he still keeps hanging in there when lesser souls would have packed it in long ago. It is unfortunate that his stuggles detract from the show and slow down the process but as long as he keeps putting everything he has on the line, everytime...who are we to fault him?

I am okay....I wanted to clarify a few things. Prior to the last run all of the saftey equipment worked and then during the last run when the fire began it melted all of the wires and the saftey shut off no longer worked along with the chutes. We apologize for the oil down but everything on the car was new and had been... gone thru over the off season!Hope everyone had a good weekend!

I remember years ago when Eddie Hill was down to his last dime. Gene Snow gave him a baseline set up that allowed him to stay in the game for many more years.
One of the better crews should look at what he has and do the same for Haddock.

That was the first year he returned to drag racing after leaving drag boats. I think we all remember how well things went for years after. :D I still miss Eddie and Ercie not being at the track.

Tom.. i'm with you on how much Terry wants to be there and race...thats for sure...

i think he's got a good A to B set up looking at some of his past runs..but... the issue might be in some of the parts.... maybe he needs to cut back on how many races he runs same funds up for better parts and make those events he does go to count more in performance... that might help his search for sponsorship dollars.... Limited number events performaning well is better than every event with a blow up...

GLAD hs is ok... but he is starting to scare me a bit.....

Might be good for some other crew chiefs to talk with Haddock regarding his tune up and parts selection. A fire can affect the other car he is racing as well. It also puts the lives of the Safety Safari in jeopardy if they have to go to his car that's always on fire.

If he doesn't get this problem under control, NHRA would be justified in refusing to let him race at any national events.

"Dedicated to Safety", remember?

What if NHRA was justified in refusing to let John force race when he was on fire more times than not? Just sayin..........

Not only did all Terry's stuff get blown up this weekend, but his support trailer was destroyed in a road accident on the way to the track. Some kids, driving a truck, fell asleep and creamed the back part of the trailer.

If Terry didn't have bad luck, he wouldn't have any. I hope someone steps up and helps him out soon. He's no different from a lot of guys 30 years ago who would do just about anything to go racing.

Terry has a good crew chief over there helping him try to find the problem. They are looking at the electrical and ignition. They will find and fix the problem. Terry has good parts.

The crews were going over every square inch of the parts looking for clues.

Terry wasn't grenading everything in his trailer last year until around Indy! In Fact I was stunned at well he was doing for a low buck team. If this weekend was any indication, I doubt he will make the full tour unless someone comes in to sponsor him.

Listening to the audiocast of Phoenix. Sounds like he blew it up pretty good. I feel bad for him. I wish he could put some good clean runs under his belt.

...man this just really sucks! Terry is a great guy but I am afraid he might be getting a call to the big man's office today..

As I remember, Paul Romaine was in the same situation. NHRA told him that due to his constant oiling of the track he couldn't race at any national events.
