Kenny Youngblood- still some of the most beautiful art in motorsports

You knew you made it in the day when 'Blood Did It!! :)

ok - this is weird - at BIR about 7 years ago; guy from my neighborhood
who has been to every BIR national, yet spends most of his time in the zoo
and usually gets no closer to racing than the finish line, and sometimes not
even that close - was at his campsite b.s.ing and asked him if he wanted to
go to the pits (was on my golf cart) - he said sure, haven't been there in years,
but let me get something first - comes out of his camper with a manila envelope;
i ask what's inside, he says you'll see - go to prudhomme's pit and
lo and behold he sees don and he comes over, my friend takes this same artwork
out of this folder and has don sign it - don even said something to effect 'don't
see too many of those around'.....his was a 4 or 5 page foldout from an old
magazine - he'd been storing it all those years - it was in perfect condition.
never seen that piece again until rite now  - thanks martin.

'Blood is still around ... he did the design on TJ Zizzo's car that ran Vegas 2 and Pomona 2 last year.

Cool stuff Martin ... now you just need to get the Snake to sign it like Mike's story.

Just found Snake's handwritten Granada Hills house address, from when I did a model of the Arrow for him... As well as a Snake & 'Goose inscribed copy of Six Seconds To Glory...

Man, I got stuff...:)

One of Blood's creations for the upcoming Rockabilly Rod Reunion at LVMS, part of the Drag Racing Online AA/FC Challenge and the Hot Rod Heritage Series.

darr, the style of this K.Y. animated illustration reminds me of
bob haro's style from his days with the MFM. (bmx action magazine)

Ahhh... The return of Magneto :)

He made his original apperance in an issue of Car Craft back in the day... I have that issue somewhere... :D

That Youngblood Snake art was on a wide short poster. It was available free from the Army sponsorship. The cupoun was either in a magazine or attached to a handout. It came folded in the mail.

Having been a lifelong sketcher of drag cars, Kenny has always been a hero mine. Finally got to meet him at Indy last year. Just a cool guy with an amazing talent.

Does anyone have more info on this poster. Where it came from? Was it actually in a magazine? Or was it a mail order item as suggested here? Very curious.

I have a Youngblood original here on my wall next to the desk. And a couple of others at the house. The man is AMAZING with his sketchpad and bag of crayons.......

Was going to post it but the file is too big.

When I was somewhere around 10-13 years old (mid '60's), Kenny worked at the same company as my father in Pasadena. We lived in Glendora at the time and one afternoon he came by the house and he and my dad spent some time out in the garage working on a gas powered model airplane. I'm thinking he was in his early twenties.

Before he left, he opened a folder he'd brought along and gave he a handful of drawings of dragsters he'd done. I remember being super impressed with his talent and was quite surprised that he'd part with them to someone he just met. I hung on to those drawings for many years and unfortunately they went missing on one of my SoCal moves. Bummer. I'd loved to have sent them back to him after all these years.
