Why is it that when someone isn't interested with a class they just say "They should just replace it with........... ". You can't just boot a class out, what do you say to the people racing in that class "Hey we are going to replace you guys with so and so". They can add more classes but would be unfair to drop classes. Think about times they have done that in the past like with Modified and Pro Stock Truck.

Whoa!!!

So, for us foreigners that would be a fair definition of the saying "the sh-t hit the fan"?

That's putting it mildly, Par. This has been going on for a while. George was very vocal a couple years ago.

I'm glad it's getting the exposure now. Bunch of bull****.

And what happened when they dropped those other classes? As far as I can tell, the ones left are still doing well. As far as the people go, they will have to adjust. Maybe they can do like Antron, and jump to something else.

I'd rather watch a Pro Mod race, than a Pro Stock Bike race, any day of the week. I am betting most people would.

Shannon, another poll? :D

PSB-2 minutes start to finish-2:30 if theres a burndown

Pro mod-10 minutes to run the class
20 minutes to get the car off its roof
45 minutes to fix the guardrail.
Thats over an hour of t-shirt cannon guys--oh boy.

It can even be too fast. Over here if everything's on schedule I sometimes ask race control to slow down the bikes just a bit when we get farther into eliminations so we can get a few more words in on what is going on. It doesn't always happen but 10 seconds extra helps in getting better commentary to the audience.

Ok, so what is the easiest, cheapest, way to fix this? Take weight off of the Buells and Suzuki's? Put weight on the Harley's? When sponsors are leaving because of the parity, something needs to be done ASAP. The Lucas Buells seemed to be at least in the same zip code, but the other bikes were out to lunch. This is a slippery slope and I am glad I am not the one who has to make the decision because someone is going to be pissed no matter what happens.

The right thing for NHRA to do would be to add weight to the Harleys (or take weight off others), this is the cheapest way to bring back the parity, THEN they need to make the Harleys available to everyone. Anything short of that is just lip service.

There will NEVER be parity in a professional class that has different block and head configurations. Someone will always have an advantage, period. The NHRA can add weight, subtract weight, add valves, subtract valves, etc until the cows come home, but there will only be true parity when blocks, heads, and weights are equal for every competitior, such as when Pro Stock was changed to it's current format years ago.

Tony,

Do you think the DRCE2, DRCE3 and the HEMI have the same block and heads?

Alan

Apples and Oranges. Are the DRCE2, DRCE3 and HEMI available to anybody? Yes! Are the Harley engines available to anybody besides the 2 V&H teams? No, not at any price! Alan, you were wrong months ago on this issue, and you're still wrong. I know you work for NHRA, but your cheer-leading and spin on this are ridiculous.

What spin and cheer leading did he do? All he did was respond to Tony's post about parity in a professional class being impossible without everyone using the same blocks and heads by pointing out that the current pro-stock engine designs use different blocks and heads.

Those engines are available to anybody that wants to plunk down the cash. You cannot buy a V&H Harley engine for any price! That's the difference!

And months ago when this controversy was hot he was wrong about the V&H engines being available, and wrong about George Bryce being told that his Buell engines had to be available for purchase.

Brent,

I understand and appreciate your passion, but I did not make a comment in this thread about anything motorcycle related. I was merely pointing out that the PS Car stuff is not all the same.

Alan

Tomorrow's Friday, Day 4 is over for the NHRA saying anything. I will keep a tally of days. They are going to go a full week saying nothing to the community. Shows they dont really give a crap. It's not V&H fault, and no matter what team you are a fan of really don't matter. Any fan of any team in a class that boasts parity has to be saying wtf. Glendora, do the right thing, this is not a tilt of the scale to hd this is a full blown sink right to the floor the way they been running. Running this good there blowing the so called money secret.

I would agree with you IF it has never been been shown to work. NHRA PM, yea at times it has it's slight lack of parity, but i have to say a majority of the time it has been pretty even. It works because the NHRA is not getting checks from a company that sponsors a team and has a unique combo. Pro-mod works, but the nhra has proven it and i am afraid of it, if a sponsor ever comes in with a team that has a unique combo and pays the NHRA, PM will now become a 4 wheel PSM. Someone wrote a response can't remember who, "when the NHRA wants parity, they have it" and in PM I guess nothing motivates them to run it as crooked as PSM.

For the record, I would watch PM before PSM

Hey Patrick,

The Motorcycles don't race again for a month. Just curious, why do you think that there has to be an announcement this week?

Alan

Comparing the situation in Pro Stock, where all of the engines are available to anybody with cash, to Pro Stock Motorcycle, where the Harley engines aren't available to anybody but V&H, is an apples to oranges argument.

And the previous comments I mentioned were in a thread from last year, which you posted in, about this same controversy.

To let the community know they are either going to make an amendment or just to say they are working on an amendment. I might be a fool for saying I buy the speculation, but I dont want anymore racers sidelined due to sponsors getting cold feet. I support V&H as we really dont know if they are responsible or not due to their possession of "the bikes and the motors", but I do blame the NHRA because there really is no one else to blame. I support the NHRA but with what us fans have to go buy is that parity sits solely on their doorstep and "we" feel that until the real situation is ever investigated, the NHRA is the only body that can take the blame.

There's no denying this, the Harley's always ruled the track for years, but i feel since mid 2011 is when it really started getting more unbalanced. No team has a chance this year unless proper action is taken and as a fan, I just hate to see riders/owners/sponsors throw up their hands and walk away. I do not agree with what Kenny Koretsky is doing, it's not fair to dent a young kids career due to mismangement of the class. He should be sponsoring and making noise about it like we are on here, and like Bryce is out there.

My only misunderstanding was who everyone was blaming. I was stupid enough to believe that all this anti-harley angst was directed at V&H and I was sold on defending them over the last year when I was not wrong in defending them, I was wrong in thinking the angst was at V&H and not the NHRA. V&H I see it is doing nothing wrong and I dont expect them to deal with the relationship NHRA and HD have. All they are doing is what your meant to do, go fast and go faster and I dont think they are involved in anything between NHRA and HD.
