Yep, that sounds like that Dos Palos 1/8 mile Eagle Field Drag Deal and car show. It's kind of like a Fresno Drag strip reunion get-together event. They ran a number of big events down their in the late 60's and early 70's when Blackie was promoting the thing. Yep, it was the site of one of the most historical Top Fuel four wide drag races in history. I believe the date was May 7, 1968 and the event the 1st annual Golden Nationals. That day my mentor Jim "The Lizard" Herbert driving the "Lizard" Top fuel dragster beat the Berry Brothes, Gotelli-Safford, Dwight Salsburry after an earlier departure of the Riatt-Hyatt Syndicate II digger. Jim Herbert four wide victory at Fresno verified by picture and newspaper article at the web link provided below:

That is the same PR quote used over and over.
You are a PR guys dream if you believe that quote.
Ive been in the business for almost 30 ,have been involved with many new tracks being built or tracks being upgraded.
Travel to all the National event tracks every year.
Work at one of the largest motor sports facilities in the world. The whole place runs on less that 100 full time people. The drag strip has around 40 part timers.
No way even if they built 10 new hotels and 20 new restaurants because of the new track can they justify those numbers.
Don't get me wrong I would love to see it built. But those numbers are so bogus, makes it look like they have no clue what they are doing.

Really? We have that many full timers? Also we had 1000 on track days last year.
And I for one would also like to see it happen, you can't have enough Drag Strips.

More revealed on Judges rulings, does she give a 180 days to correct Enviromental Impact Report? :) Are the developers standing strong? :D Is the city attorney for the pessimistic new city counsel changing his tone in the face of project failure? ;) Have on going back channel under the radar conversations between the city and developers shown up on the screen? The lastest squirming over the future of the Tulare Motorsports Complex and potential NHRA sanctioned Super Drag Strip from todays, January 19, 2010 Tulare Voice newspaper at the web link provided below:

****************UPDATE 11/10/11 THE TULARE MOTORSPORTS COMPLEX DEVELOPMENT HAS BEEN MOVED TO CHOWCHILLA, California*****
