Yep, that sounds like that Dos Palos 1/8 mile Eagle Field Drag Deal and car show. It's kind of like a Fresno Drag strip reunion get-together event. They ran a number of big events down their in the late 60's and early 70's when Blackie was promoting the thing. Yep, it was the site of one of the most historical Top Fuel four wide drag races in history. I believe the date was May 7, 1968 and the event the 1st annual Golden Nationals. That day my mentor Jim "The Lizard" Herbert driving the "Lizard" Top fuel dragster beat the Berry Brothes, Gotelli-Safford, Dwight Salsburry after an earlier departure of the Riatt-Hyatt Syndicate II digger.
