FC Qualifying -Force 3.800 ?

They have Force Qualified at 3.800........two tenths + quicker than the record!
Something is fishy !
Where you seeing that number? Drag Race Central has no ET recorded for John Force. Here is what they posted:
A terrific looking pass and likely a great ET, but the incrementals ET's from sixty feet to the finish line are bogus.
We are on hold while NHRA looks into the right lane timing problem
John may have made a good run but the timing clocks in his lane were off so they had to throw it out.

Could you please explain why the fact that Force left early has anything at all to do with bogus numbers? I keep reading that and it doesn't make any sense to me.
This would mean that EVERYTIME someone leaves early, after the tree has been activated, they would put bogus numbers up, right? We both know that doesn't happen.
The only way that could happen is if the stage beams were never broken until AFTER the rear tires have passed by. Could something on the car have been that low which would continue to block the beams until the rear tires cleared them?
OR!!! Are you saying that John left BEFORE he even saw an amber? That the timing was just right that he left a thou after the tree was activated? I guess that's possible for a rookie driver...just doesn't seem as though he would leave THAT early. But maybe...
I know you're the true expert on this subject and I'm really curious what the real situation was?

He left before any amber's came on. A funny car leaver there is only an area about 8 inches long where a FC allows the beam to see through, then the car re-blocks the beam. He re-blocked the beam with car and as the rear tire was going through the beam the tree fired. so the clocks started as the rear tire left the beam. That giving him a 125" closer to the 60foot and a runing start also at the clock. Hope that explains it.

It's obvious this particular case was the error of the driver. But, in the event that there was an actual clock malfunction, would he have been allowed a re-run? With as finicky as these nitro cars are these days, he could go the rest of the weekend without getting down the track. That being said, I would think you would want every shot at the track you could, especially if the run that was disallowed was an obvious good one.
How does that work?

Joe Amato lost the quickest run ever (at the time) at the 1997 Brainerd race due to a clock malfunction. He had just run a 4.56 @ 317 (tied for quickest and fastest ever) then came back and made an even better pass but the scoreboard showed 4.90. I was told it was a .55-.54 He did not get a re-run.
I also seem to remember being at a race in Vegas where Friday got rained out, and Greg Anderson had a clock malfunction, and didn't get a time on the first run Sat. and was left one shot to get in. No re-run.
