The Revellution was one of my favorite cars too and lucky me I got to see it a lot living near Portland OR.

I have to tell this story. One time at 32 funny cars I was a 12 year old kid and I walked over to the Ace and asked for his autograph and he said "just a second". He then walked over and said "OK where's your pen?". I said "I don't have one". He said "what do you expect me to do sign it with my finger?" I was a little taken back by that but like Chris, the Ace and Bonin (along with all of the Northwest guys) were two of my favorite drivers. And that never changed. The Ace was always one of the driver I looked forward to watching.

The Ace has donated some nice stuff for our car show and I have a nice hand written letter from him on the wall right next to my computer. My only regret is I'll never get to personally thank him. If you read this Ace, good luck in your retirement you will always be no. 1 in our hearts.

I had a sneaking hunch he was going to move on, but I figured he was going to move onto another team, not retirement.

So be it. If he's happy, I'm happy for him.

Thanks for all the memories Ace, and enjoy your well deserved retirement.

Best of luck Ace...........definitely deserve a great retirement.

Will definitely be missed out there, and he was also very nice to me whenever I spoke with him.;)

Happy Trails Ace!!
My fondest memories as a kid was when my dad was shop foreman at Pink's and Ace and Prudhomme rented shop space out back from Pink's. Needless to say I was your typical snot nosed kid that was always getting in their way whenever possible. They gave me a job rolling the slicks back and forth in the alley which was about an 1/8 mile one way telling me that was how they broke them in before they put them on the cars!! You guessed it, years later as I got older I realized 1) they were used tires and 2) it had nothing to do with breaking them in!!
Out of all the racers my dad has worked with back in the day he always has more "Ace" stories than any others combined. I wonder why? LOL

Kelly I had to laugh because when I was a kid I would spend summers at my dad's shop, the front was a collision shop, the back an engine shop. Well he would put me to work block sanding fiberglass. When I said, "Dad, check it out" he'd come over, say I was doing good, and put a fresh coat of glass or puddy on it, and had me resume the sanding. LOL...kept me out of trouble all summer!

I was a kid at Woodburn Drag Strip in the 60's, but I remember The Ace was THE man! The guy that could drive anything, the best. I remember seeing him in front of Columbia Racing Engines on Union Ave. in Portland. The place seemed like the Holy Land to me. Enjoy youself Ed, I've been a fan for life.:D
