I have heard from a crew member the team and car are intact, just no driver as of yet. I think also if it was funding they most likely would not have wasted money on testing for Indy, If they didn't plan on going. This appears to be all on Massey. And as for me I'm glad to see him go.
So Now give me a list of Available drivers , not currently with a team that could step in tomorrow.

I'll start
Cory Mac
Bob Vandergriff
The Greek
TJ Zizzo
Dom Laguna

Who else?
Melanie Troxel. She has experience with DSR. Would be interesting with Mel and TJ on the same team, but they're both adults, I think they could handle it.

First hand knowledge from a DSR team member. So before you ask who and all that stuff, it will come out over the next few days. DSR made the right move.

This whole deal is just as big big distraction for DSR just before Indy. The Don is a smart man and will do what he has to do for his sponsors and his teams. It will be interesting to hear his response to Massey's release. As far as "speculation" on a driver to replace Spencer's seat, I wonder what kind of contract Leah Pritchett has with Dote Racing?>> Just throwing it out there....

Serious?

.....Slowing reaction times, he finished 3rd in points the last season with DSR so doubt that "got him ousted" as you claim either
l'm a huge Cory Mac fan too, but go do some research Brian, he could have won the Championship instead of finishing 3rd if it weren't for all of his holeshot losses that year.

Clay Millican, LOL really? Clay is a great guy very nice but has not won a single race and very few rounds even in NHRA. You pick him over Cory LMAO not sure how to respond to this kind of logic
Stick Clay in the car at Indy with 1.5X points and he'll more than likely have the team back in the Top 10 for the Countdown, (where they deserve to be). How's that for logic?

I wonder how much low oil prices have to do with the termination? Spencer's "official" sponsor has to be feeling the pain from the petroleum market. Last time he was let go all was forgiven when the guy from Ft Worth funded the team. Whoever shows up with a checkbook first will get the ride.

If you're referring to Red Fuel, it is a line of portable backup batteries for mobile devices by Schumacher Electric.

A real good friend of Cory's text him about this and returned a smilie face, so we will see from there.

Hillary Will

Mel would be a great choice, if she wanted to come back and had some marketing partnership to bring. Then again, if Ashley is all set for next year,
Mel could possibly just continue with Don backing the car. We all know she is a class act!

Age, really I could make a very long list of those currently races every event that are older than him. That has zero to do with this debate

Slowing reaction times, he finished 3rd in points the last season with DSR so doubt that "got him ousted" as you claim either

Lack of money is an issue with any team and no Cory doesnt have a Gene Snow but I am sure he is thankful for that :) lol

Marketability, your claim here blows my mind, how is he less marketable than any other driver? What he cant pose naked in SI? Neither can 99 % of the drivers

All of this is Just my opinion but I do feel I have a serious point

Spencer Massey replaced Cory for four reasons. We discussed this absolutely to death back in the day when it happened. Not one person that I can think of agreed, approved and Don Schumacher caught so much hell over it he felt the need to come on this forum and defend himself. Spencer was hired because Cory lost the Fram money and Gene Snow had some; because Cory was considered an aging TF driver and therefore less marketable than a much younger Massey; and because he was known for his known lightning-quick reaction times, something that cost Cory and Team Schumacher several round wins towards the end of his career with DSR. People made the valid point that CM's reaction times weren't THAT bad, and they weren't, but he wasn't as quick or consistent on average as Tony, Antron Brown, or Massey. That's not just my opinion. It all came out right here, and elsewhere, back when everything went down.

You're wrong when you say my assessment is wrong. It isn't; it's spot on. Your respect and admiration for Cory Mac is swaying your opinions in his favor, which I understand because I have great respect and admiration for him, too. I was infuriated when he lost that job. But Schumacher made a business decision and on the surface, it looked like the correct one from a strictly business/performance point of view. Myself, I can't always separate personal commitment from business, and Massey turned out to be a little brat with an alleged drinking problem. Lose-lose deal for everyone in the end.

And Don Schumacher won't hire Cory Mac full time to drive that car, for the same reasons he was released to begin with. Ashley Sanford has a heavy sponsor, she's 20 years old and pretty, has a passion for Top Fuel and has nitro experience. He may 'owe' Cory the seat but everyone here knows how Schumacher rolls. He's 100% business.

Lets go in a different direction....who thinks Massey gets a car and gets into both the Traxxas and the Big go in spite of being released? Does Snow have enough connections to put him in and does anyone want to wager on his outcome of both events?o_O

Just a thought based on nothing really. If you lost your state issued driver's license for a DUI, don't you also lose your NHRA Competition license? If you were the president of a company that has the motto "Dedicated to Safety" and you lost your license due to a second DUI would you still have a job? Just curious.

Eugene, you're in the best place to find out. Get in your rental car and start snooping around. Come on Man.!!!!
