After reading at comp plus ("Ten years later," Schumacher said during testing at newly named O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis, "I'm going to try to win this one for Blaine, for the Johnson family. I guarantee you, you won't see a beer going into my body this weekend, because I'm not going to let something outside jeopardize what we're trying to get for him, for all of us.")
The underlined says it all about why Spenser was let go. IMO
Pretty drastic but Don didn't get to where he is today by letting someone do something stupid. After the awards dinner fiasco I was surprised Don hired Spenser back.

Thank's Rick... where was it at, and did they have a good crowd?

The place had quite a few people there. The autograph line I got into took about 45 minutes to get all the way through it because people were lining up for it about an hour before it was scheduled to start.

agree with John some of these drivers aint so nice and upstanding in their lives behind the scenes I saw it 1st hand lets see NHRA and themselves portray that they are such fine married family men and women but sleep with the help and groupies, wat a crock of shit

I believe that's a massive stretch. If DSR had a major problem with consumption, off the clock or outside of the conditions of employment, I doubt he'd be ok with Tony owning a home brewing supply business.

There is a massive difference between drinking a few of your favorite beverage in the privacy of your personal life and showing up impaired/drunk at an event where your representing your employer. If its not the first time and you've been encouraged to get assistance and warned by your employer then you'd be on your own...at least everywhere I've been employed.

Not to get off topic, but I didn't know that about Tony...what is the name of it? I am a bit of a dabbler in home brewing myself I might check it out.

Now back to on topic....if the guy really was doing his best to impersonate Ron Tater Salad White....WOW..... Just wow....

Everywhere I have ever worked has had some sort of assistance program if you willingly go to it, if you have a problem. However, if you show up drunk at work or a company function, you're fired, no questions asked.

Did anyone else get that alBalooshi will only be driving for DSR at the US Nationals?

Hmmm, who will be driving after this weekend?

From the last line of his Wikipedia:
"Schumacher enjoys playing guitar. He also co-owns and operates a home brewing and winemaking supply business called Perfect Brewing Supply."

Khalid Al-Balooshi.

Quoting Schumacher: "It's important to me that our Sandvik Coromant/Red Fuel team will continue to compete for wins this year. I'm excited that our team will continue, and with Khalid, they are more than capable of winning these last seven races. "

balooshi likely with most recent experience driving a very current, very competitive TF'r......i like the choice. cory would have been
no surprise either.

Understood, and that's not at all different than what I was implying. I highly doubt, from that old quote, that Tony Schumacher enjoys a few during the course of a race day, but maybe that particular weekend, he was not going to during the evenings either.

I understand Khalid got the nod (I like him) but someone mentioned Troxel, and I think she IS the strongest natural driving talent without a ride in my book. Takes a good touch to drive a Pro Mod, Fuel Funny and a Top Fueler successfully. Great personality, level head on her shoulders...I see a lot of her in Leah. Anyway, I know there's a major Cory Mac lovefest going down (seriously, get a room), but all I really remember of him is how annoying it was to see him giddy as hell when he was running good one moment, then whiny and moody like a teenager when he wasn't running good the next (which his thinning hair and blade sunglasses made worse somehow). Was just never a fan, personally. I now return you to the lovefest.

(ps...not against losing hair, just losing your hair while acting like you're in your teens)

Just thinking, with Millican and Connolly 124 and 134 points respectively behind Massey, there is a possibility that Massey could retain 10th after Indy. Even with 1.5X points, Clay and Dave would have to be in the final to take over 10th without any qual or record bonus points. Runner up would get at least 136 points, while the most for 2nd round loser would be 113 points. Is there anything in the rules that says Spencer has to compete in at least one of the countdown races to be awarded a top 10 finish and bonus money?

With Spencer out and Ashley Sanford RUMORED to take the seat in 2016, how does this picture from the Fan Fest fit in?
