We all knew that Hagan was going rounds, but like I said earlier, TJ taking the right lane was just a slap in the face to all NHRA fans. TJ's team could have at least made it look like an effort, take the left lane and set it up to drop a bunch of cylinders, blow it up and smack the guard wall. Give us something besides just insulting our intelligence, especially after all the times they've been adamant about running them heads up.

To add a solution to this discussion let's just make the crew chiefs put up 5k for 26 races. This gives them skin the game.

JFR and DSR both dive when they need to.

That's business and the problem with multiple teams.

I personally think that they are both killing the sport. Look at F1, the costs are too high.

They need to lower the costs and perhaps lower the number of cars in multiple teams.

This may involve job loses. But if you want to try and prevent diving and lower costs, big changes are the only way to go.

It's just unfortunate that 'The bigger and faster, the better', mentality is more a part of drag racing than other sports.

Look at the clutch packs, how big should they get?

Greed is killing the sport.

Ron Capps said it best. He doesn't mind if we go slower, but as long as us fans understand why and want it.

So perhaps we are as much to blame as the teams.

We just need to get less greedy and accept that going faster in Nitro is perhaps killing the sport due to costs.

Funny, you guys who are crying about this are the same ones who were supporting it when it was Force doing it. Much like Force said about Indy, prove it. It's not like a driver cut a .250 light and drove it straight to the wall. No one can say for sure it was a dive, is it suspicious, absolutely. The only smoking gun is the lane choice in the semis. Since no one has asked Don or John Collins about why they picked that lane, we are all speculating. Is there a rule saying you can only choose a particular lane? lol, I didn't think so. So I end it this way, if it was ok for Force to do it, why not Don? Diving sucks, period, I don't care which team does it, but it's the reality of the sport today.

I think the problem is that DS said they wouldn't race like that after JF's incident...and they proved it with several races where it would have been good for biz if they had meddled with the outcome but didn't. But now it looks and smells like they went back on their word.

Imagine the uproar if Hagen beat Wilkerson for the championship this way.......

Pretty sure DSR owns the team and Terry funds the operation. Given Terry funds the car, I am confident she has a say on certain things.

On a personal level, playing in competitive golf tournaments at age 40 I have begun to place all the blame on the individual competing (myself) for missed opportunities. So, today I believe while the 2009 US Nationals fiasco & what may have happened Sunday in Pomona was wrong on certain levels, Cruz (2009) and John Force (2014) should not have triple bogeyed a hole or two earlier in the season. Thus they would not have needed to close the round birdie-birdie to win . (Heads Up: Golf Analogy)

My point is that diving sucks. But at the heart of it is the individual who got beat, or didn't accomplish the goal. I cannot speak for Cruz (2009) or John Force. I would hope today each would simply say their teams should have won more rounds. Period. I know this is what I have said about my performance. Control what you can control. Be the best you can be. If you lose, recognize that you needed to be better. In the case of Cruz (2009) it was the events leading up to the US Nationals. For John, it was last handful of races.

Paul, you and the rest are correct, Force losing the championship is in fact his own fault. The issue is not the championship or the diving, at least as far as I'm concerned. Don has been very vocal about not doing certain things including having one or more of his cars purposely make a less than stellar pass. Well don't blink, because you might miss him speaking out of the other side of his mouth. Doing so does not mean that he's any worse than many others, it's that he said over and over he would never do that again and then it seems like he did. Make's one wonder what else he's done.

When I first heard Hagan say that, I cringed thinking to myself 'did I just hear that?' And then I heard it again.

It's funny hearing somebody with one championship, at the time, say that about a 16 time champion. Honestly, I'd imagine hearing that from a senile Force interview.

I just wish I had a Daddy who had some cash and car dealerships that would fund my hobbies as a full time lifestyle, too.
