I heard somewhere that the divisional races are scheduled prior to the national events because the tracks need to set out their schedule long before the national even schedule gets set.
Some tracks need a big race to get their season started anyway.
We aren't going though. Not sure what our racing plans are this year.
It's better for the gate if the divisional isn't back to back with a national event. I know that Duane Shields will be there before going to Pomona and then back to the east coast for most of the season.
Very enjoyable day and a very smooth event. These divisional races are a great chance to talk to teams and learn more about sportsman racing. I certainly learned a lot about alcohol cars today - those drivers are REALLY busy!
Left after a T/D had a small fire at the back of the motor off the line and legged it through with the fire getting bigger all the way. No rain yet . . .
hopefully we'll get to see at least some runs tomorrow.
6:15pm You had to mention rain! The first TAD did his burnout after a fifteen minute delay for sprinkles. As he backed up, he was told to shut down again.
The third qualifying/time trial sessions were already cancelled.
I read my email from Firebird about special pricing,,,,,,,,,,,,and paid for 2 seats on Saturday. MY BAD, the day looks to be a complete washout no matter what weather website or channel shows tonight.
I didnt even check to see if they had qualifying on Friday (always my preffered day to attend any race) which is the norm, I dont know what I was thinking! So Im out 20.00 and a great day at the races I need to go read the purchase terms, Im sure its rain or shine and thats it.
We are racing today! Just high dark clouds, so far.
The track is more than adaquate with lots of wheels up leaves in Stock, Super Stock, and Comp.
There were a couple of complaints yesterday, when the SC & SG cars come off the timers, but nothing serious. Most cars had no problems that I could see.
With a 5.28 by Mr. Demke....and 5.59 (all kinds of sideways) by Mr. Bartone to lead the pack yesterday, it'll be interesting how they can improve today...
Off and on light rain and high winds ended our thoughts of driving an hour to the track. Hopefully tomarrows forecast looks better.
Firebird said they would honor our advance purchase Sat tickets on Sunday.
Here in the Vally of the Sun, it only storms on race days it seems like for the last few years!
