They were still rolling in yesterday, and the only team that ran a couple was Elite, Drew Skillman and Erica in Jegs car. They're having problems keeping them running, I'm not a mechanic; but, it's like the issue is fuel management going from one extreme to another; stand still to open throttle (burnout) and the fuel isn't constant enough to keep the car running at either the hit or the stop. There was other T&T going on as well, Hagan and McMcMillan stayed behind and put in a couple of passes, and Boychuk, Swearingen, Payne, Hough, et al, are there as well. I was there today over lunch and only saw a couple of runs, my buddies over at Arizona Auto Scene are covering.

I could be completely off my rocker, but I believe Pro Stock is going to be interesting to start the year because there will be so much to learn and a lot of mistakes will be made along the way. I have no doubt they'll all figure it out and performance will improve steadily over the course of the season, I just think it'll take a while.
I almost avoided PS altogether when selecting my drivers for Pick the Winners, but I thought about it and realized somebody has to win the class. That's why I went with Jeg - with Connolly in a pipe rack these days, he's the best "pure" driver left in the class. And before everyone comes crashing down on me, I'm not taking anything away from Erica, Drew, Greg or anyone else, they're all extremely skilled drivers - it's just my opinion that Jeg is the most naturally gifted driver in the class when strapped into a race car while the others have developed their skill over time.

I'm sure I'll get the details wrong, but from what I'm reading elsewhere they're having issues with excessive vacuum holding the blade shut. So when they try to just crack the throttle during the burnout and staging, that vacuum is giving them fits with throttle control.

People I know say the "good cars" were running 6.50 - 6.60's, some had "idle" issues but getting that straightened out. Seems like the guess is any where from 40 - 75 horses less than they were making at the finals. Cars are leaving wheels up due to shorter wheelie bars. Looks like pro stock should be OK no need for the death toll some thought would happen. I didn't get to spend much time out there for PS this week; but, that's the report I had heard yesterday from the other photogs when I got there, and I can definitely confirm "wheels up".
