It will be a popularity contest, which Force should win by a landslide. If this is not favored to Force (by 80/20) then his creditability/integrity has most certainly taken a hit among his core supporters.

Why was 'ELL YES not a choice...

If he hadn't, then I would have lost a little respect for him...

Team First...

before the race Force looked right into the camera and said he and robert was gonna race straight up for the fans !! and then he went out and did just the exact opposite. i wouldnt call it cheating as cruz did, but it was dishonest and lying ! Force shoulda answered the pre race question the same way connie kalitta answered it years ago by simply answering "one car needs to get in the countdown and the other doesnt" end of story.

It will be a toss up:

* Anyone who's owned and operated a business will understand
* Anyone who's negotiated and kept sponsorships long term will understand
* Anyone who's played team sports where winning meant something will understand

The others simply will not. They cannot until they have qualified to understand.

You are aware that would've been an open admission of guilt and there is a rule in place that would disqualify that round win for Robert had he said such? Don't you? You can thank Connie and the others who openly and intentionally threw the races in times past for that rule the NHRA subsequently implemented.

A rule that was implemented to pacify the public than anyone else. A rule they knew would be near IMPOSSIBLE to enforce.

I was thinking a better survey question might be:

"What would YOU do give the exact same set of circumstances" (as much as possible, eliminating the personalty prejudices up front - your team, your sponsors, your family, your business).

For me, no question, once you go from an individual sport to a team concept, you have to advance the team.

I don't think ANYONE thought the outcome wasn't going to be a Robert Hight win, just how clever JF would be in losing was in question. As it turned out, the fall was not very clever at all.

Its really too bad that he didn't just race him straight up because I think Robert would have won anyway...but then we wouldn't have all this drama!!! :D

correct you are but, instead of an outright lie, i felt he coulda simply left an open ended answer like 'were gonna do whats best for the team' or 'were gonna do the right thing' !! In other words, something that wouldnt outright convict him if the nhra charged him !

What do you mean "do the right thing"? Take a dive, sure, he had to. Lose his cool, heck no.

Where are those choices in the poll?

I just want everyone to take off the Force hat, Shoe hat, Pedregon hat, corporate hat, and small independent hat and figure out how do stop "the dive."

No multi-car teams. And even that won't work as alliances will form. Ever watch Survivor? :)

Diving has always been there. Always will be. In all sports. For all kinds of reasons. You can go back as far as the Black Sox scandals, kids throwing college hoops games, etc., etc. It's "sport". Sorry.

For the last couple of races the main focus of the Force camp was to get Hight and Neff in the countdown. That was the reason for the car switch between John and Robert. Now we are supposed to believe that at the semi finals at Indy that wasn't the objective anymore? I don't like it but Force did what he had to do for his sponsors and team. Now imagine what will happen when this situation comes up in Vegas or Pomona. It could be Cruz helping out Tony or Hagan helping out Capps or Tasca helping Wilkerson. The countdown in Funny car is going to be a team championship this year and not an indivisual championship.

OK, then how do you patrol a 14-time Champion turning the car hard right off the line. Giving up the biggest trophy in drag racing to get an 11th place car in the Countdown.

If it's more important to John Force that his daughter, or a team member win a race, especially the biggest race, it's time for John to step aside!

I disagree... You left out an option. And because of the diving that has and probably will take place it's nice to have this option to cheer for. Del Worsham just became my new favorite driver.(always cheered for him anyway). He's the only FC driver in the countdown without a teammate to block and dive for him.

As for Force "doing the right thing"? I would say probably yes. Do I like it? NO

James, this is what you all are missing. HE CANT say he's going to throw it. I am sure if it were up to him, he would have just stayed parked at the pits and let Robert take a single. And to be completely honest, Robert did have the better car this weekend anyways.
