Dan Gurney died

Not really known for Drag Racing, but without a doubt, one of the best American race drivers of all time.
RIP

Met him several years at an mixer at Willow Springs Raceway. Told stories about Ferrari inviting him out to Willow, to test for a position as a team driver, which he failed because he kept running off the track.

Dan Gurney did do some drag racing (everyone in SoCal did in the late 50s), he also set the C Modified Roadster record at Bonneville in '58 or '59. He basically did it all. He leaves an almost impossible to fill void in the racing world and there will never be another Dan Gurney.

Till his death, Dan Gurney was friends with some serious ass dudes from the world of drag racing.

I believe I missed this. I hate to hear of Dan Gurney passing. Here's a few shots from the 2015 Gurney display at the Indy Racing Museum. The Toyota GTP was one of my favorites.
