Congrats Ron Capps!

Hey Ron, if you see this, it's your old friend Leebone. I used to watch you race at National Trail in Ohio. Just want to congratulate you on your championship. It's been a long time coming but very worthwhile. You deserve it my friend. Keep up the good work!

Cubs and Capps in the same year....what kind of odds could you have gotten on that? Congrats to Capps....it's been way too long coming.

Great to finally see this! I know the Capps crew is happy as sh*t. I sent Kelly a message on Facebook, hopefully she come here to chime in.

I'm also glad Capps and the Napa Team finally won one. And... They would have won even without the Countdown!

HALLELUJAH! I told Capps at LV that like the Chicago Cubs, this was going to be his year.

I've gotta admit that I'm eating some crow on this one. I had pulled the plug on Tobler and Capps ever being able to pull it off. I just didn't think the consistency that is needed to win a championship was ever going to find it's way to this team. They proved me wrong this year. Congrats to the champ for hanging in there and not giving up!

Been a fan since he was driving for Roger Primm (used to exchange notes with his PR guy - can't remember his name). "Most wins without a championship" God bless we can finally retire that one!
Now if we can only get one for Cory Mac.

I waited 15 years for that to happen. Finally! Awesome to see it happen in person at the most magical place on Earth.
Extra special meaning for us race fans here in Santa Maria and on the California Central Coast.

Glad he finally got the win he has deserved for so long

I was immediately a fan when Snake hired Ron to drive the Copenhagen car back in '97, and he's been my favorite driver ever since. If he ended up not winning the championship this year, I was going to suggest that all us Maters lobby Don Schumacher to switch the crews around and do whatever it takes to get Ron that elusive first championship.

Wasn't that tried before and Fast Jack won instead?

Good call, I had totally forgotten about that. After the first Vegas race in 2012, Capps had a DNQ, and Tim Richards abruptly resigned. So Don brought Rahn over from Beckman's team, and then hired Todd Smith to twist the knobs for Beckman. The championship came down to Capps and Beckman, with Beckman having a 4 point lead going into Pomona. However, both drivers lost in the semis, giving the title to Fast Jack.
