ROCKINGHAM, NC (APRIL 24) - Raymond Commisso said he's had better days at the racetrack, but today, the opening day of qualifying for the IHRA Nitro Jam Spring Nationals at Rockingham Dragway, was in no way his worst. The current points-leader struggled to get down the racetrack in both sessions, netting a last-place No. 18 spot heading into the final two qualifiers scheduled for Saturday.
The ever-positive Commisso said, "We're not too worried about it really. We changed our whole engine setup, and we just have to work through the bugs. That's it.
"Al [Billies, crew chief] is very confident we'll do just fine tomorrow and get into the show for Sunday. We know we have a car that will run 5.80's and that we've got a great team, so we'll just put things together and hit it hard in the morning," he said.
Commisso and the R2B2 Racing team have two more qualifying attempts scheduled for 3 and 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
