Cadillac Pro Stocker ?

Was Jason hinting there could be a CTS V in PS ? The Cadillac ads touting the 556 hp makes it seem like a good fit to me.

Something like this ??

That's a Cadillac XLR a bit different from a CTS-V. The XLR is also no longer in production.

Neither is the Pontiac GXP, but it didn't stop several guys from building them in the offseason. There's tons I don't understand, and the rationale behind building a new Pontiac drag car is certainly on that list. I guess there really aren't any alternatives currently?

Toyota's money would spend just as well as anyone else's right now wouldn't it? However, I'd LOVE to see a new Camaro and a new Challenger to join the party. I guess the retro aerodynamics make both poor choices, huh?

Stanfield is working on a new Camaro that I understand will debut later this year. It seems that I also read somewhere where the Summit team was hoping to have one (i.e. Camaro) ready later in the year as well....not sure if those plans have changed.

BTW, I think that Caddy looks like sh*t! Obviously JMO.

I can't imagine GM allowing that. That would be nowhere near where their marketing is targeted.

The reason teams are still building new Pontiacs is because it's still the best aero car out there. NHRA rules allow any body to be used up to five years after it goes out of production. The new Avenger seems to be close, but they'll need to prove that position consistently. The MPH numbers tell the story. The Summit cars and Mike Edwards seem to always have the top speed.

Its pretty lame that the manufacturers don't see enough benefit in the sport to give the teams some incentives to at least run models still in production.

NASCAR has a very close relationship with the auto manufacturers and makes sure that they understand and take full advantage of any opportunites they have to promote their brands and cars.

Its pretty sad that the NHRA apparently has zero meaningful activity to develop and maintain this kind of lucrative relationship with the auto manufacturers.

The NHRA needs at least one board member that has the contacts and know how to develop and maintain these kinds of relationships, ie a Roger Penske kind of guy. Its killing the sport that there is currently no way to get this kind of board member in place.

GM needs to get on the stick with a new funny car body, as well. I prefer using coupes as the basis but, the new Regal looks like it could make a slick flopper body.
Remember when Chevy racers had Monzas, Camaros, Vegas, etc?
I just hope it doesn't get like NASCAR.

Wow that XLR is sweet! I can speak for the street-version of the CTSV. I have a client who owns one, and he's done all kinds of crap to it, shipped it to a couple places to have mods done.... it's fricking ridiculous... and I mean that in a sick, badass, completley jealous kind of way! It's a racecar with leather interior and license plates.... saddest of all - it's never been down a race track. Several people who worked on it tell him it will do 10.40-something passes all day long. He even got a special permit for having non-compliant emissions from the state of Colorado. Waaaay too much car to be driving on the street in my opinion

Yeah but the GXP was once approved for pro stock racing. The XLR has not and is now out of production.

Also, the last I remember. A pro stock car had to also be based off a production car that had 4 seats. XLR shares the same platform as the Corvette.

Gotcha. Thanks for the clarification. I didn't know about the 4 seat rule, but I agree with the previous notion that drag racing probably isn't the demographic Caddy is going for even if the XLR were still in production.
