Has anyone ever stayed there or have any info on it? The reason I ask is b/c the family all sit down the other day and figured out the race season and we decided for Thanksgiving this year we are all going to Vegas for the big bracket race and a mini vacation. So we will be driving Mon and Tues and then staying Wed thru Sun and driving back home on Mon and Tues so we need a hotel room for 5 nights.

Someone recommended Arizona Charlies to me and it looks nice but I guess b/c I can get a room for $200 for 5 nights total I'm a little curious how it is. If anyone knows anything please let me know. I saw its a little ways from the track and downtown but it doesnt look like its that bad a drive or anything. Only bad thing so far is it doesnt have a poker room!

I had the buffet there one time and it was ok, not outstanding but not bad... I played the slots for an hour and walked out $400.00 ahead of where I started...

Plenty of parking, not glamorous, it seems more of a "locals" type of establishment. The people were nice and friendly but it was far from an upscale establishment, more of a regular place... The drive isn't bad but you are a ways off from all the glitter.

I usually stay at the Golden Nugget downtown. The "deal" is nowhere as inexpensive as Charlies but it is very clean, and from a family perspective it has a nice pool (uncommon in the downtown area). Also... "Downtown" is where you can actually walk to a store and buy a coke for less than three bucks if you catch my drift, unlike the strip establishments where everything looks close but is actually a mile off due to the sheer size of them.

Also, the downtown area itself has quite a bit of entertainment with bands, the light show, little shops, and sidewalk painters... Plus you can walk out in the morning and get a decent cup of coffee from the sidewalk vendors.

If you get away from downtown the neighborhoods generally go downhill quickly and you should avoid them at night if you have your family with you.

I joined the slot club at the Golden Nugget and as such they give me a discount on the room, despite my not being much of a gambler and there is a parking garage right across the street.

Az Charlies is kinda out there. I would stay at any of the downtown casinos like the Golden Nugget. Also Binions has a very good steak house on the top floor and the all have great poker tourneys but Binions has a great one at 2am every morning.

Like Charles said, parking, if you have your trailer with you then go to the track 1st.

AZ Charlie's on Boulder is fine. It is geared more towards locals, but they also have RV parking. Rooms are clean and food is cheap and edible, but if you are looking for more of a "Vegas" experience, you are going to have to go downtown or the Strip. It is real easy to get to the track from AZ Charlie's, as you just go straight up Nellis Blvd. You are also right between 2 decent poker rooms at Boulder Station (the BEST Omaha game in Vegas, it is limit 4-8 High only and it is an ACTION game, better have at least $300 when you sit down) and Sam's Town. Both rooms feature limit and no limit Texas Hold 'Em as well.

Chris, NELLIS BLVD!!!!!!!!!!!! Every traffic light in the world. When I stayed there I found the freeway to be much faster unless you want to pratice reations times a few hundred times on the way to the track.

2am holdem tourny at Binions everyday is awesome.
