The liability to you of a business that advertises on your car is very limited. When they are called a sponsor, the liability greatly increases, almost making them a business partner in your racing. Rember that when writing your new contract for 08'.

This hasn't passed the smell test from the beginning. A Torco sponsored fuel team owner/driver told me that Evan told him he sold $300 million a year in propane. And then when I spoke with another fuel racer that actually worked at Torco, he said their race fuel sales far exceeded the propane sales. HUH?!
A lot of folks believed what Evan told them and most got hurt.
And why is he in hiding? No one seems to be able to find him.

Sure it's possible he had NO idea what was going on with his company, it's finances and business dealings. It may be true that someone bought a freaking airplane without him knowing and jetted around in it for a year...but a recent story I heard (from a good, reliable, professional racer source) involving that plane and HIS DAUGHTER make that tough for me to believe.
Normally when the federal government gets involved, the answers get dug out eventually. I'm sure that will be the case here.

With the IRS investigating, it looks like he was using your money and mine.

Buzz Miller, you make a good point and I tell people that we are in the advertising business and we're selling advertising. That's what we do.
Sounds like from the newpaper story all the sales are generated from a little gas station and store some place in Michigan.
I'd wish Mr. Knoll would come on here and do another rebuttle.

There ain't that much kool-aid.
Regardless of how it all ended up, some people benefited from his spending spree. Creasy Jr won a championship or two, others received a boost to keep the dream alive. I personally know a pro racer that received some funding from Evan and at that time questioned his ability to continue giving and this was on 2006.
What happened when the house of cards fell is not what you hope for and some good people were affected and jobs lost.
I don't know all of the details, and I am sure most wont. I don't buy that he was unaware of how his company was run and that Latrel was driving it into the ground. If this is the case, shame on him.
