ALL RUN, in pro classes...... (1 Viewer)

All this talk about giving the fans more bang for their buck, then they send home more cars then they race.
33 Pro-Mods show up and they let only 16 race.
21 Pro Stocks show, and again only 16 get to race.
Seems like a terrible waste to have perfectly good legal race cars, with trained crews, and licensed drivers
on site, and not let them race Sunday

How do they expect the sport to grow, if they keep discouraging participation ??

What say you......??

if they rearrange the schedule, they could have a whole week of racing instead of sending those cars packing.....imagine the 32nd qualifier in Pro Stock racing and beating the number 1 qualifier in a wheels up all out pedalfest match.

In the day and age of cost and budget concerns, I doubt the NHRA is going to go forth to it's teams and tell them they have to run more rounds.

Very true Andy....and I think the limited spots....that is what makes qualifying fun to watch...especially when it comes to the US Nationals....I was a little disspointed to see Comp was not a full field...I really like watching those guys play the index games.

Next year if the results of the new pro stock rule change include a lot more than 16 cars showing up, than an all run format would be nice to encourage continuous participation. They would either have to short'n the turn around time or run round 1 on Saturday. 5 rounds of nitro cars on race day is unacceptable. perhaps do it like the NFL playoffs , where the bottom seeded teams battle it out until there's a final 8 left or 16 in the case of drag racing.

A good portion of this season has been an all run format with less than 17 car showing up. Best to cut qualifying down to 2 passes or even better no qualifying and every one draws straws for seating. Let the crew figure it out the track.

Just kidding about the second part.:D

20 car fields

Set 1-20 on 3 shots

Q4 have:

13 race 17, 14 race 18, 15 race 19, and 16 race 20.

1-12 run Q4 as normal.

Sunday round 1 have:
1 vs 16/20 winner
2 vs 15/19 winner
3 vs 14/18 winner
4 vs 13/17 winner
Normal 5 vs 12 etc. after that.

We could get 20 car fields and more cars get to race.
Everybody gets to run all 4 sessions
Top 12 carryover rule goes away.

Sure there are holes in every idea, and getting 16 cars to show up is hard enough, let alone 20 but just thinking out loud. The payouts would need to go up (gulp) to try an attract extra racers to show up.

If you let them race on Sunday, they WILL show up Saturday. The cars are out there. Look at all the "unknowns" that started showing a couple yrs ago when
we had short fields. Why? because they knew they would get to race. In order to get, (and hold) a sponsor, you need to be aloud to race.

If you build it.....they will come.

It is called Chicago Style. Great format for a one day nitro race. Saturday Night Nitro at Famosa still does it. First round, all run. Second round all run, winners race winners, loosers race loosers. Final is between the two low ET cars from the first two rounds, for the win. Great show. Two full rounds with all of the cars, and you have to run it hard if you want to be in the final.

If you want to see all the cars, go on Saturday. Are better yet let's just let everyone show up in the staging lanes and do random pairings like at a bracket race.
