This might also give a chance for past drivers who have wanted to come back but havent been able to get a good deal , unless there is more then one chuck etchells I noticed him lurking on here yesterday didnt he once say he would love to come back .

Kevin Dreher..... I have been behind the decision of NHRA to go to 1000 ft. from the begining. You have never seen a post from me stating oitherwise. aren't you the guy that is allways posting things about people that are not true?
Glenn, I own a ford truck.

I did not post my original message to start a debate on here about american and foreign trade relations, I only stated my own personal feelings on that subject and there is nothing that can be said that will change my opinion. Just another chapter in the "Selling of America" book.
I hope everyone has a great labor day weekend.:)

Mr.Paul...merely asked a question....Please notify me immediatly of ANY false postings I've may please! thank-you..

On another note, I feel bad for Toliver, he finds unique sponsors but they don't hang long-term. No matter the car, I hope he's driving next year.

BFD, a rich guy wants to come over and race. If the Sheikh really wanted to impress me he should have bought the entire friggin' NHRA. I can hear it now... "Bentley's for everyone"! :D:p

Wow, I know the money is really there, but this still seems like a pretty risky thing for AJ to do.

Anytime somebody (the sheik) is doing something more for the f*** of it than for any realistic long term financial gain you run a big risk that they might get tired of it or pissed off at somebody (like the NHRA) and decide to take their ball and go home.

I'm sure AJ's got some heavy weight attorneys to try to lock the deal down, but even so going after unpaid funds from someone in a foreign country is no easy task, even if the contracts are rock solid. I guess requiring full pre-payment for each season (if not the entire deal) is one way to go if he can pull that off.

But I hope he puts Toliver in the FC seat, I've always been impressed with guys like him that can find ways to win races on a shoe string.

Paul T.

I'm sure AJ is well aware of the term ESCROW account.

You think Alan would leave for a "risky" deal?.....Any of You actually know Alan personally?

Alan would not leave DSR for a "risky" deal. He has wanted to be a car owner, (AGAIN) since the Winston deal ended with Gary, but not at a "HALF ASSED" level. The investment the sheik is giving Alan will permit him to field these two cars at a top notch level. The DSR deal was a great opportunity to make some more money, test more ideas and products, and add to that very impressive resume', however it was not where he wanted to end up in the sport......

oh and to answer your 2nd question, I'd say about 35% of the people who post on this site normally, can honestly say that they know Alan Johnson Personally. I have met him on several occasions. I wouldn't call him a great friend, but I know the guy, and the family. Have since they entered the TAD ranks in Division 7.

Now is AJ just going to be an owner or is he still going to crew chief on the cars?

Sam,

He will be calling the shots without a doubt... But I would be interested to see who joins him... I'm thinking if Keith Adams is free, he will probably be in AJ's Line up.

Regards,

Michael
