I dont see a problem with them doing any type of racing, they are just as much american as any of the american companies are now. I know Shannon Jenkins was going to build a solara pro mod but nixed it when they changed the body rules. with the state of drag racing and the lack of sponsors we damn well better not overlook any potential up and coming sponsor or company. I think they will let them build a motor they will just tell them it's gotta be a push rod motor. I hope they do because I'd hate to see nascar get all the money and glory.

Toyota has had an interest in Pro Stock for at least a couple of years. Why would you not want them? And if Toyota getting involved make other corporations look harder at NHRA, is that a bad thing? I'll take all the corporate involvement I can get.

I heard that Toyota is seeking appoval from NHRA to develop a racing version of it's iForce V8 for use in Pro Stock. Any truth to this?
Boy I hate to say it, but that camaro just doesn't cut it compared the challenger or mustang, they could have done better. I've heard others say it also I just didnt notice how cheap it looks compared to the other two.

I don't see this as anything other than a good idea. Toyota has cubic money and is not afraid to spend it. If given the chance I'm sure they will field a very competitive car and become big promoters of the sport. Something that would benefit all of Drag Racing.

Don't they already run pretty large in Japan? I recall seeing somthing on NHRA Today almost a decade ago visiting a drag strip over there, and all their door cars were national brands, with the exception of a few (VERY) high dollar 70's musclecars that were brought over...

I'm not real excited about Toyota in PS. Do they even produce a pushrod engine? Or is it okay for them to run OHC motors against the good old boys? Oh, crap, there I went and showed my age. Shoot me!

Michael Waldrip is already working on the NASCAR Toyota. They are developing an engine that will be acceptable to them so I suspect they will have a DRCE looking piece to prepare for production to they can compete here. If they spend the $$$$ that the top teams do, they will probably be competitive before many years. Remember, there 'aint nothing stock about a stock car.

It's the end of the (Pro Stock) world as we know it, and I feel fine...:D

I was just listening to that CD last night. It is hilarious to see them in concert when 15,000 people yell LEONARD BERNSTEIN, as if they are the only lyrics to the song they know ...

Anyway, I don't see Toyota in Pro Stock as a bad thing. Their effort in Funny Car has been unspectacular ... so I am surprised Toyota would be willing to invest at this time in Pro Stock. If they are willing to spend, I say we let 'em.

I'm going to puke now!
Ironically the Toyota will probably be built in the US and 49% of your GM product will come from Mexico & Canada.
The more factory involvement the better. BTW I'd venture to say that much of the up and coming generation doesn't associate Toyota, Nissan and Honda with Japan. JMO

I know everyone's not out buying Yota's. But for those who have, you can't really complain about Yota's at the dragway. I'm looking forward to I potential brand war!!!
