Thats all well and good but the best part of the 90% deal is the crews will only have to change the oil and screw in a new set of plugs between rounds.

The Agent over at DRO says that the Kalitta cars were the only ones so far in testing to utilize the 90% mixture. Everyone has been saying how much better the cars sound, is this like a placebo effect?

Bradshaw was on 90% in Vegas. Capps' car sounded like it was on 90% And in the video that Paul came across, Fuller's car sounded like it was on 90%

I was in Phx. and they sure sounded closer to 90% than 85% IMO! I think once these guys get ahold of 90% and the performance comes into play. The others will have to step up!

If your car was running as good as Hot Rod's or Schumacher's would you junk that combo and start from scratch? The times when they want a little more they will go up 1% or 1.5%. Also consider how many parts they have in stock for the 85% combo. Would you just throw away 200 brand new pistons because they are to high compression for the 90%? I wouldn't

Haha. Thanks Bob Hopefully the meet will be ok, it's going to hit close to 100 in the afternoon, but come evening it should cool down and hopefully we'll see some good times. Wells' ex TAD is entered in Top Comp as is Isbell's ex TAD running the rootes. Be nice to see more good numbers from those cars too. When are you coming back down under?

Some will go to 90% and let the parts not work so hard. Some will stay at 85% and use the 5% as a tuning aid when the air is bad. Some will settle in the middle somewhere. Each crew chief will make a decision based on their budget, knowledge, tuning philosophy, etc.

If you can run 4.45 on 85%, 90% isn't gonna make it go 4.40 except for maybe in perfect conditions. When you get to higher altitudes or bad air conditions, the 90% is gonna keep the cars consistently quicker over all the different atmospheric conditions that they will see, The E.T. variable will shift more towards the track conditions rather than the air conditons. But neither can or will ever be eliminated.

Tony's right, that's one way to do it. When we ran at Indy this year and had to run 85% vs. the 90% we run in IHRA, we ran the same compression until it got too warm on Sunday and then switched because we ran out of gasket thickness (thinness at that point). That's when we upped the compression in order to shift the gasket window. It will work, but only to a point.
